Proposed annualised hours

Post by Cybitech »

How do they propose to record everyone's actual worked hours for annualised hours?

I don't trust management to manually record the hours, as if most other delivery offices are like ours, they can't even accurately record the missort figures, or the amount of daily failures on DODR.

I certainly don't trust the pda's as most of our staff are too lazy to scan the consolidation point, so leave their pda's logged on, showing them in the building longer than they actually are.

So unless they've got some amazing system to do this. I think it's flawed from the start.

Annualised hours is a RM pipe dream and will be the first thing they concede when they negotiate seriously with the CWU
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

We’re about half way into our supposed quiet period of the year and I’ve booked extended delivery every day this week.

Under RM plans for annualised hours I’m supposed to get time back. How does that work then Simon old chap when during the summer quiet period I’m still working over? Lunacy! Clueless! Embarrassing!

Over 30 years I’ve done this job and I wouldn’t put these fools in charge of a kiddies birthday party!

You'll get that time back, probably when you are able to actually book your adhoc leave..... never then.

No one is going to rush round in the Summer months when they know that means staying out later in the pitch black Winter months, for no extra pay. They must think we’re daft!

It will be a presumed time of taking the fastest ones time and everyone else will owe the time they did this with lapsing or absorbtion or making your time up just because one cock could do it and he got sacked for stealing the mail and he was god's gift too RM at the time!

Clocking in cards! What if you get to, say, end of February and you've done your years hours? Do you get all of March off because you can't claim overtime?

My prediction

Annualised hours if it happens will require scan in scan out on PDA, and the bank will be automatic on the system.

Failing to scan in or out will be a conduct issue under the banner of health and safety.

If you are stationary for more than say, three minutes, a pop up will occur on the PDA asking you if you are taking your break. There will also be an option to manually trigger your break on the PDA. In this way, once you clock out, the PDA will know how much time you went over or were under. The PDA will never deduct your full break off the end if you failed to trigger your break before this time.

Probably by electronic clocking in and out, but would the hours be logged as the actual hours you've worked or the amount they think it should have taken you via traffic figures, route map, call rate etc.
Highly unlikely because they’ve just been taken out of our office.

Why ? Because they had to pay people every single second they worked.

Bit of a minefield that.

You’d have to log in your pda at your start time.

You’d have to log you’d had your first break before leaving the office or all of it and if it’s on “ health and safety grounds” those who don’t take their breaks would have to be conducted.

You could be stuck in traffic or a number of things to be stood still for a period.

The pda regularly logs off or doesn’t work in the rain.

The pda doesn’t link to a system that collects info on how many hours you’ve worked as an individual, a separate system would have to be set up.

No one can be made to work past contracted hours be they annualised or not without paying you … banking hours isn’t legal.
