Having a network that reaches all the far parts of the country and capable of delivering the USO is unique. The covid test kits 24 hour turnover helped manage covid outbreaks during the pandemic. Without Royal Mail this would never have been achieved...
I think the powers that be even in politics realise this. I don't believe it will be allowed to completely crash and burn.
But it will be a drawn out battle by the looks of things

Long strikes, then RM will say you gotta let us bring new people in on different (gig economy) contracts, probably coupled with some VR offering, and I can’t see people striking for much longer if RM are guaranteeing they’ll be left alone on their “old” contract.

And it’s not like old timers on their own duty saying I’m all right jack is anything new on the floor

The how is easy. It always ends in a hotel conference room where both sides give something up. Who will be in the room for them is the key to when. While the 2 current Rico fans are still pulling the strings it could go on for months. We need the share price to get to an unacceptable level for the board and that will force out the top 2 clowns. That seems to me the only way out of this pickle.

Politicians? This blue lot would be more than happy to see the RM torn apart if it also found a way to line their pockets. And there is always a way.

From my perspective, RM Simon wants those who don't like the changes and remember the old ways gone. And agency staff who don't know any better, looking for work, take up the new contracts. He would love to follow P&O's example.

I can't see him getting that so it will likely be the end of RM, I imagine parts sold off and the top men leaving with nice bonuses from the sales.

Thing is simple simon could have done this when the pandemic was at full tilt but now people are getting full time jobs with better pay and conditions the only peoples job's on the line is the whole board of Royal Mail!
