It’s all propaganda there not going to close offices to prioritise others there aim is to break the strike so will want as many workers in as possible in every office as a show of business as usual they don’t care about what gets delivered they fail everyday now they just want to break us and divide us

Re: Only parcel hubs to open strike days
That's my thoughts, given how many deliveries fail everyday now on a "normal" day, they're just planning (and hoping) that a strike day will just be more failures than usual. Playing catch up is part of the daily routine now, as will be after the strike days.broughts wrote: ↑11 Aug 2022, 07:50It’s all propaganda there not going to close offices to prioritise others there aim is to break the strike so will want as many workers in as possible in every office as a show of business as usual they don’t care about what gets delivered they fail everyday now they just want to break us and divide us
Just always remember - you only know what has been communicated - no doubt there are many more tactics being decided within closed rooms at the top that are yet to come to light.

Re: Only parcel hubs to open strike days
From what I see in my DO EVERY DAY our managers could not plan, organise and carry out a f*** up in a brothel never mind organising a gang of agency staff and a shed load of parcels. I don't know anything about the hubs and the machinery but I would guess that most managers rely on the staff to run, repair and know the little tweeks they require. Still it's only a few million quids worth of machinery. The managers and the agency staff will be fine with the instruction manual. It's probably only a couple of pages.

Let’s be honest,RM chat a very good game - the reality is they couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery - and that’s with the goodwill of us lot!
Any work plan involving just agency workers & management is destined to be doomed

“What’s she been ordering now?”

Re: Strike days on rest Day...are we paid?
According to a number of sources it does seem Royal Mail for the first time are going close the vast majority of Delivery Offices on the strike dates and instead try and get agency and managers delivering parcels and tracked from the LAT units / 346 offices.
If true then it would seem that will not give the opportunity for anyone wanting to go in on strike days to do so but also what will they do about cleaners ?
If this is true then by default in deliveries the strike will be close to 100% in the vast majority of delivery offices.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It is true.
Managers were told yesterday during a video call with Simon, questions were allowed but filtered.
They intend to close all but the parcel hubs.
Staff wanting to work will have to go to either the parcel hubs or the mailcentres to do so.
It's a stupid plan but at the moment that's what it is.

Posts from Martin Walsh, me and Woody merged into this topic regarding parcel hubs open and DO's shut.

Can't be much more than a bare bones service.
Who's going to staff the mail centres, and drive the lorries to get these parcels out to hubs?

Re: Only parcel hubs to open strike days
I think there are three aspects to their plan
1. It focuses all their resource and work in the one place and saves them pointlessly opening offices where no value work will be done.
2. By closing the majority of offices they think it will cut down on our visible presence with the public on strike days, obviously they believe nobody is going to picket a closed office.
3. It gives them a free trial with the parcel hubs and an excuse to get them up and running.
We now need to adapt our strategy, these parcel hubs will be overrun with managers and agency staff and our members and reps will need support, at least one branch official, area rep, divisional rep or national officer needs to be at every hub, we need to bring out the heavy weapons. We need to direct the media to the parcel hubs and get as many members at the gate as we can.
And we need to try to make sure these closed offices are still picketed.
It's not just about stopping the work, it's also about public perception.

I think it will also allow them to concentrate all of the emotions in one highly charged atmosphere.
I think Wimbledon need to make it crystal clear what is and isn't acceptable behaviour on a picket line nowadays.
Public perception and all that.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Our office will be closed. If enough wish to work the managers will hire a minibus to transport staff to the nearest LAT.....apparently.
How desperate would you need to be to jump on a charabanc with management!

Surely you should all say you want to go to the hub let them book the transport and then have a change of heartluddite wrote: ↑11 Aug 2022, 18:28Our office will be closed. If enough wish to work the managers will hire a minibus to transport staff to the nearest LAT.....apparently.
