A very positive day explaining what the dispute is about to people who asked on the doorstep and in the street. Nothing but support.
How did you word it without spending too long each time?
"Well inflation is through the roof, but they've offered us 2%, with a bit more on top if we accept our T&C's being ripped to shreds. They're basically trying to turn Royal Mail into a gig economy company, like Deliveroo or summat. No way we can agree to that".
That's my well rehearsed little speech, seems to cover the gist of it.

Nice. My problem is I start off like that then five mins later I’m telling em about the Great Reset

Just outlined how what’s been put out in the media is disingenuous and that what they really want is to axe sick pay and enforce annualised hours plus all the other things. Nobody told me a 2% payrise was enough.

That’s actually really helpful. As quite a shy person i do find it difficult when customers want more than a little chit chat especially when its questions on stuff like why we are striking. I probably over think it and on the spot my mind goes blank.
I've had nothing but support from everyone I've spoken to. When you tell them about the profit and manager's bonuses (which I tell them can be verified on the internet) they are totally gobsmacked that we aren't already on strike.

This not just industry wide but is prevalent in all big companies and conglomerates the shameless I'm all right jack is so endemic in the corporate capitalists of the world it would make you shudder how anyone raised them. Puppy dogs into Rottweilers with a savage taste for blood and greed beyond mention it up to us all to fight for the society we deserve not a playground for the rich and uncouth and dead in the brain tories!
In the few weeks before I left I was telling people about the situation while on delivery. I usually started the conversation by explaining why they were only getting post every other day (van share partner off and no cover, plus the number of vacancies), then adding that that was the company's plan for the future.
My duty is now vacant because I'd had enough, putting the vacancy level at just under 10% of the correct staffing numbers.
Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

Thing is to them we don't even deserve a wage at all slaves to the managers who most were postmen or failed rail conductors or just Ex military in the day the kind of people who never knew how to manage just take orders like MacDonald's and KFC!
