I think RM's hands are effectively tied, if they don't offer really late last acceptance times then all the big firms are just going to take their business elsewhere
Then we return to the start of the loop. you cannot really have both. The distances required in one "day" delivery (say london to scotland) are not achievable by electric in... 6 hours (11pm to 5am) for big distances.

As for business elsewhere, we outprice (as in cost more) most of them and retain business from reputation, which, whilst CLEARLY damaged, is still of value. You know, "Trust on the doorstep" bollocks. I get plenty of complaints of "Postie didn't' leave it" but so very few "where the f**k did my socks actually end up?". We have security and middle-ground speed as out sales pitches, if RM actually leaned into them, we'd see higher value, lower volume traffic and be *fine*, at least form the viewpoint of this particular joe bloggs postie.

It varies from area to area, of course, but in mine, Amazon still cannot reliably deliver to my house instead of my damn neighbours, but the posties that have done the walk before? No issues. DPD, usually fine, Evri, the "usual guy" is solid, but if he isn't doing it, well, time to search for my parcel in the river...

The strike begins at 04:00am on each strike day.

People on nightshift will actually be performing a (legal) walkout at 4am as they work till 06:00 am.

No return before midnight on the the following shift too.

Should be interesting for anyone intending to sc*ab as all your colleagues will expect you to be clocking out at 4am alongside them........it's not going to be like sneaking in the back gate in the back of a van.
Last time iirc if someone was already on shift at the time the strike starts, they stayed on shift and for them the next day (shift) was their strike day

In previous disputes it’s been worded first full shifts starting after 4am (or whatever time it was). So if day staff are out on the Friday then night staff will be out on the Friday night but work full shift on Thursday night.

Ah righty'o..........
I thought the 4am walkout sounds better though, 4-6am is peak nightshift and dispatch time.

Do they want parcels next day or do they want them environmentally friendly? Can't really expect both.
They not bothered about the enviroment its just a way of getting our times pushed back to suit maybe cut a bit cost.
And it sounds good in the media and to the public. Of course it isn't about the green agenda, they just want to cut jobs with these proposals... do away with allot of collections and jobs in delivery offices.... The truth isn't so endearing the public ear.
The wording is clever to shift the blame onto the union and manipulate the financial figures.
These are professionals at marketing and manipulation

100% this. If Royal Mail truly cared about the future of the company, they would focus on quality and trust.

But the top brass just want a big short term payout. So they want us to pile it high, flog it cheap, then they move on to their next parasitic gig.

How much did you get paid from your Test and Trace failure by the way, "Si"?

The only way you'll ever win is taking the workforce with you and at the moment we are going in different directions, unless you turn and come on our path you will be out of a job sooner than us.

I think that some companies are just taking advantage of RM's failures now. For example, MoonPig always sent their cards simple 1st class....and they got delivered.

Yesterday afternoon at 5:50pm there was a knock at my door. As I was on the phone I didn't get to it before the person left but when I did get to it, there was a Royal Mail van pulling away, he/she had come from the next town 10 miles away (I knew the van as it's the one that delivers to work), obviously doing LAT's and there was a MoonPig card in a Tracked 24 envelope posted through my letterbox!

Add to that, the card was for my next door but one neighbour but it was my address on the envelope so it was delivered as addressed. I took to my neighbour. Our regular post lady who's been on the round for yonks would have known that anyway.

My point is, these cards that always got delivered with the normal post, they are now coming in Tracked 24 - is that because of the abysmal service RM give to letters now that at least the sender can get it delivered on time?

How much extra in wages and diesel has that card now cost to deliver? Absolute madness.

Simon take a look in your mirror tomorrow not the newspaper but at yourself because YOU caused all this it did not have to be this way but you choose this path that will lead to defeat on your part. People in the whole workforce have had enough of you and your ilk and rhetoric coming from above bring the fight on we will Prevail.
