Do they want parcels next day or do they want them environmentally friendly? Can't really expect both.

Sorry but if we lose this, then the job I've done for 2 decades would be unrecognizable to the point where I would have to question how I could continue to do it. So in the words of terry " I'd rather smash it to pieces, than hand it over to them"
Mate you nailed it for me, they’re always saying “we need to make your job s**t so you can keep a job”, but they never explain why we would care if the whole thing collapsed if we’re moving on anyway. It’s a trick that makes no sense.

What like moving work from Parcelforce to Evri-Hermes? Wanton hypocrisy!

Exactly.
Next day delivery is actually a busted flush, even Amazon are slowly moving to a 2 day prime delivery expectation. Dpd only offer it Mon-Fri and only if the order is placed in the morning.

It's far too costly both financially and environmentally.

It's typical RM to be chasing yesterday's fad.

They can certainly have both I think, but only if the cut-off is something like 10am for next day. which RM doesn't seem to want to stick to. Personally I think that if specials were untimed (Or, normally untimed, with the 9am option available) but otherwise next day guaranteed it'd do the job for the most part, needs to be in the post by 5pm, so ordered by 4pm? Far more reasonable than 11pm or whatever they're up to now.

The Amazon driver who usually does the packets on my round had 325 drops today as he was doing two rounds. Seems Amazon are also struggling for drivers.

I think RM's hands are effectively tied, if they don't offer really late last acceptance times then all the big firms are just going to take their business elsewhere

The strike begins at 04:00am on each strike day.

People on nightshift will actually be performing a (legal) walkout at 4am as they work till 06:00 am.

No return before midnight on the the following shift too.

Should be interesting for anyone intending to sc*ab as all your colleagues will expect you to be clocking out at 4am alongside them........it's not going to be like sneaking in the back gate in the back of a van.
