From what I've heard, the sector manager here is the one obsessing over the week's PDA Actuals data on Sunday nights. I often picture it in my mind like a soldier in a certain mid-20th century totalitarian regime having to participate in a firing squad or they'll have you shot too.

Wonder how he got his gig at Royal Mail - just a coincidence obviously!
Mark has been providing independent advice to scope the technical development and
help to oversee modelling and analytics of the NHS Test and Trace app.

As I see it the PDA is the one thing OPG's have control over so use it for your own benefit. Input as much correct data as possible and then when you're having your hundredth debate with a manager that month that you can't do any more ask to see your data so you can visually back up what you've been saying verbally for months.
If they want to use data for their benefit then why not also use it for your own?

Wonder if they're been leaned on by their boss about the amount of hours usedMr Rush wrote: ↑10 Jul 2022, 22:10From what I've heard, the sector manager here is the one obsessing over the week's PDA Actuals data on Sunday nights. Re: RMCtv : No cut offs - ever - You take it out - you deliver it all.
This is why their whole 'shorter days in the summer / longer days in the winter' is going to fall to pieces....
They think we finish early because the PDA data says so, but they don't take into consideration that Posties skip breaks, start early, take shortcuts. Why would any Postie do any of those things if they bring shorter Summer days in. They won't. Posties will then start on time, take breaks, and won't rush round cutting corners otherwise they'll have to work longer Winter days.
If say our finish time in Summer is 2pm, but they expect us to be finishing earlier, say 1.30pm, then Posties are going to do the job to rule and finish as close to 2pm as possible.
and then there's the continued 2 days mail issue....which will likely continue into next year and beyond which means you could be working to, or even past 2pm on at least 1 day a week.

Then what I can see happening is as follows:norris9 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2022, 20:17This is why their whole 'shorter days in the summer / longer days in the winter' is going to fall to pieces....

‘Make sure you’re all back here for 1.30pm’
‘Boss, I’ve a council letter for every address and parcels are through the roof’
‘No problem, prioritise your tracked and come back for 1.30pm’
‘But boss, I’ve 3 days Mail’
‘I don’t care. Stream it. Back for 1.30’
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Not forgetting that if you have shorter days in the summer thats when you want to book all your annual leave because as leave is now based on hours you will get more weeks off during the summer than winter.

Ha, ha, ha. Where are all the leave covers going to come from to cover for those extra weeks?Marshamp11 wrote: ↑12 Jul 2022, 18:01Not forgetting that if you have shorter days in the summer thats when you want to book all your annual leave because as leave is now based on hours you will get more weeks off during the summer than winter.
In reality it'll cost you maybe three less hours for the one week the COM has graciously allowed you off in summer
(And don't you forget it - I've had to do a lot of juggling to keep everybody happy you know!) and those extra hours
saved you'll be able to book an extra half day in the third week of January. Brrr...lovely.

I assume they'll still be blocking us from having time off during the 6 week run up to Xmas.

This heatwave is another timely reminder of why this proposal is unworkable. Different people have different heat tolerance.
Just because it doesn't hit 35C on your delivery doesn't mean you should be expected to clear everything before going home.

Another issue that I may have simply forgot reading in this thread so far is about OPGs that frequently get moved from pillar to post, put on duties they don't know at all, or have very poor knowledge of because of how infrequent they do them.
The prep alone is naturally going to take longer than those who know the frame layout, could easily take 30-60mins+ more. Delivery could well take longer too, not knowing the area, "hidden" addresses etc.
Extra special call to @francis williams and other talented board members (see viewtopic.php?f=1&t=105980).

Has any mention been made about overtime due if you over run. Will these hours be “banked” and paid out at the end of the year? Can’t say I fancy being a creditor to a company that’s losing £1 million a day.

Isnt the simple answer to not take it all out with you in the first place?

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
