It is illegal and RM will probably prosecute you ( and it could render the entire strike illegal).

No idea, I work for Royal Mail.darkgable wrote: ↑04 Aug 2022, 18:33Im not that well informed on the subject . But are the CWU doing a better job for BT Workers ?Clappedoutpostie wrote: ↑04 Aug 2022, 17:47And Royal Mail will always be one step ahead of the CWU, they are the ones that manage the company hence make the decisions, the CWU can only negotiate/react to them.

Re: What's the CWU's game?
just watched TP's speech/rant and got say there was passion there and I will back the union 100%
however we are always 2 or 3 weeks behind RM, they can quite simply enforce changes on us whereas we must take a month or 2 to question it,
we could be on strike next week but jeopardize the 2nd ballot, but what difference would it make?
and why didn't they at least put a work to rule option in? they said it can't be policed correctly but that's just like saying part timers can't trusted not to scab, the cwu are always on the back foot
and before anyone part timers pipes up about living on that wage, it took me 11ish years to get to full time but I always knew I could live on it,
currently at ours only part timers allowed early overtime, full timers getting zero for the last 2 months or so whilst the younger fitter are on more money!
this will be the make or break of the cwu

The first ballot was purely about pay, the changes are what the second ballot is forworld class male wrote: ↑04 Aug 2022, 20:18just watched TP's speech/rant and got say there was passion there and I will back the union 100%

Re: What's the CWU's game?
yes i get that, but they are not going to offer us a decent no string pay rise no matter what now, kinda makes the 2nd ballot inane, but an option of work to rule would eliminate the threat of agency staff coming in with zero loss of pay to absolutely everyoneSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑04 Aug 2022, 20:34The first ballot was purely about pay, the changes are what the second ballot is forworld class male wrote: ↑04 Aug 2022, 20:18just watched TP's speech/rant and got say there was passion there and I will back the union 100%

"work to rule" would require a third ballot, the other ballots would have needed "or action short of strike" on them to allow a work to ruleworld class male wrote: ↑04 Aug 2022, 20:43yes i get that, but they are not going to offer us a decent no string pay rise no matter what now, kinda makes the 2nd ballot inane, but an option of work to rule would eliminate the threat of agency staff coming in with zero loss of pay to absolutely everyoneSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑04 Aug 2022, 20:34The first ballot was purely about pay, the changes are what the second ballot is forworld class male wrote: ↑04 Aug 2022, 20:18just watched TP's speech/rant and got say there was passion there and I will back the union 100%

Re: What's the CWU's game?
exactly my point, it should have been in the 1st ballot even if they didn't want to go down that route, a few extra blobs of ink is all it would have takenSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑04 Aug 2022, 20:46"work to rule" would require a third ballot, the other ballots would have needed "or action short of strike" on them to allow a work to ruleworld class male wrote: ↑04 Aug 2022, 20:43yes i get that, but they are not going to offer us a decent no string pay rise no matter what now, kinda makes the 2nd ballot inane, but an option of work to rule would eliminate the threat of agency staff coming in with zero loss of pay to absolutely everyoneSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑04 Aug 2022, 20:34The first ballot was purely about pay, the changes are what the second ballot is forworld class male wrote: ↑04 Aug 2022, 20:18just watched TP's speech/rant and got say there was passion there and I will back the union 100%

Re: What's the CWU's game?
All we can do is back our union thats us, the way i see it is the CWU have done all they can reacting to the company on their later starts sick pay changes loss of allowances flexible working etc. I dont think many people who took the job for the early finish would be able to stay thats just awful in these hard times, who would want to do ot in the dark and freezing cold winters our ageing workforce have lots of health issues and could not do five hour and longer walks this is a fight we must win if not i fear we will lose our once great postal service. Hope you have all voted.

The RM board have played a blinder in successfully diverting attention and focus away from giving us a proper payrise
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

We have already got a massive yes vote on pay when the share price drops their blinder will be a blunder.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑07 Aug 2022, 09:53The RM board have played a blinder in successfully diverting attention and focus away from giving us a proper payrise

Re: What's the CWU's game?
I think the focus is shifting too much to the changes and away from the pay rise - I understand the ballot just now is just on the changes and thats why but now both issues are linked to one another and the changes are going to be at the forefront which imo was RM's aim all along to avoid having to give us a proper payrise.cpsteve wrote: ↑07 Aug 2022, 14:20We have already got a massive yes vote on pay when the share price drops their blinder will be a blunder.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑07 Aug 2022, 09:53The RM board have played a blinder in successfully diverting attention and focus away from giving us a proper payrise
People arent as concerned about a payrise when they are frightened for their jobs
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
