What would be good is if they give us more shares or 2 grand to agree to changes then they can do what they want
The going rate used to be 30 pieces of silver!
Whatever they offer you have to calculate what that's worth over the rest of your employment with the company. To use your example if they gave you £2000 and you continued to work for RM for a further 5 years you're only looking at about an extra £8 a week!
Then consider what RM want you to sign away for that £8 a week.
I remember when we signed away the Old Door to Door Payments (hidden in amongst the small print) which used to average at least £50 a week, sometimes as high as £80. I believe we sold our souls for about £200 that time FFS.
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)
My rep has given fantastic speeches at 3 gate meetings and at each one has made it clear, in no uncertain terms, how the introduction of inferior terms for new starters will ultimately undermine the effectiveness of the union's bargaining position in the years ahead.
They are already on inferior terms.
Pension, sick pay, Sunday, lower pay for 12 months.
That's the terms without even starting on the conditions.
What use are the fantastic speeches now that the new entrants have been hung out to dry for so long?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
Nope just realistic.
Can anyone tell me any examples of when strike action stopped a change the company wanted?
2 years ago, the threat of industrial action last time stopped them imposing their changes. Have you a short memory?
Delayed sweetie, delayed, they will do it (in some form) this time.
No it was stopped 2 years ago. You can only say delayed if it comes in. Come on be honest, you’re a manager aren’t you. Either that or you have one very brown nose
As I'm only a year in I've no idea what changes were being pitched 2 years ago, what was it that time? (Genuinely curious)
delivering parcels from the LAT offices ( the things they are are doing by EA now..)
Look, if you want to break a strike, go ahead. Just don't expect Union backup when you get in trouble next, and managers come after you (which they will).
And don't complain when your pay and working life is unbearable.
Well these words come to mind for anyone not prepared to strike and fight.
The future teaches you to be alone
The present to be afraid and cold
Gravity keeps my head down
Or is it maybe shame
At being so young and being so vain
And if you tolerate this then your children will be next
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

This. I find it amusing hearing the union go on about inferior terms and conditions, and creating a two tier workforce when that's been the case for years anyway.

I'm well aware that new starters are already on inferior terms. Do you think that myself, my rep or the rest of my unit are happy about that?
Because inferior terms have previously been negotiated at a national level......and then voted in as part of a package by the national union membership.....should we therefore just cave in to any future encroachments that the company want to bring in and not bother arguing against them in speeches at local gate meetings?

Do you honestly think arguing against people being on inferior terms an conditions at gate meetings that the rep or anybody else for that matter actually gives a flying f--k. majority will always back union most don't read the small print.
Just had a look on holiday app. My upcoming holiday has Sunday down as well as Mon to Sat as approved holiday. Looks like Sunday working may be getting pushed through already. Sundays were never highlighted in green before.
