Mass Exodus?
Has any other office experienced a large increase in the number of staff resigning/leaving? We have just had 7 people hand their notice in, in one week!
We now have 17 vacancies that apparently can’t be filled, as there is a nationwide recruitment ban due to the upcoming strike action.
It looks like more and more people either can’t afford the part time hours any more or are deciding not to stick around whilst our Ts & Cs are decimated…

Re: Mass Exodus?
Yes a lot of people have left this year already and I know a lot more will leave if the new plans come into action.a lot of people can’t work later due to picking kids up from school, and who wants to work sundays if you have a young family.
Also a lot of people travel quite a few miles meaning even starting 1 hour later will mean hitting all the rush hour traffic coming and leaving work.I think recruiting in the future won’t be easy as the job is getting less attractive and any newbie’s that start these days don’t seem to last.

One of the biggest reasons, granted, but practically no one, including those without young kids want a Sunday.Mick100 wrote: ↑29 Jul 2022, 18:05Yes a lot of people have left this year already and I know a lot more will leave if the new plans come into action.a lot of people can’t work later due to picking kids up from school, and who wants to work sundays if you have a young family.

This puts a special obligation on all employees to play their part in maintaining the kind of service that the public has a right to expect. The nature of the service makes a measure of overtime working necessary. Re: Mass Exodus?
A week ago there were six vacancies at our place, with 62 delivery duties.
One more left today, another is going next week, one retiring next month and another going by the end of September plus one waiting on a transfer.

Re: Mass Exodus?
Loads have gone already from ours and no sign of them being replaced any time soon. So we’re failing mail and even tracked most days.
But this doesn’t seem to be exclusive to RM, plenty of companies are short of staff at the moment due to poor working conditions/pay not keeping up with inflation.
They don’t care at the top, they’re hell bent on getting as many of the ‘old guard’ to leave so they can be replaced with flexi contracts. They are playing a dangerous game and I think it will backfire.

Re: Mass Exodus?
Surely it's down to there not being enough workers post COVID & Brexit as unemployment is at a record low so they must be working somewhere?Jpro747 wrote: ↑29 Jul 2022, 20:18Loads have gone already from ours and no sign of them being replaced any time soon. That's a standard employment catch all clause.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑29 Jul 2022, 19:36

It's not a compulsory anything clause.
Not overtime.
Not Sundays.
If it was obviously we wouldn't be having this discussion.

It's also a problem that's not confined to the UK, many countries have a similar problemTopperGas wrote: ↑29 Jul 2022, 20:21Surely it's down to there not being enough workers post COVID & Brexit as unemployment is at a record low so they must be working somewhere?Jpro747 wrote: ↑29 Jul 2022, 20:18Loads have gone already from ours and no sign of them being replaced any time soon.
