Intresting post
i went on the anti war march first weekend in december last year that was at carterton near alvescot lodge, quite a broad range of groups represented there. The CWU banners were flying high and proud and were well received (Northen home counties branch banner and the education and training department banner) I was at alvescot for a new course being trialled for branch political officers.
A intresting question in the coursework material was consider the pros and cons of affilating to another party and what party that could be.
To me that means somebody was droping hints, but it could be just a innocent question designed to stimulate debate!
I do belive that if the new leadership team in labour dosent deliver then a ballot of political levy payers on continuing with affilation is needed. it is members money and the time for them to pass judgemnet has come!
The whole needing 44 mps to stand for labour leader is stupid, it should be any MP can stand and then let the party make its choice. I find it intresting to see that Jon Cruddas did not back John Mcdonnel and backed brown instead. Maybe that had something to do with him standing for deputy leader and brown almost guaranteed being elected unopposed as leader.
I was looking forward to seeing the JM 21st century maifesto for socalism being debated and getting nationwide publiicty.
I agree that labour losing the next election is the only way to go back to the roots of what labour should be doing!
Something that have happened over the last 10 years i find hard to belive have come from a labour GOV but the co- op party section of the party may have too much influence in my opinion and the trade unions not enough.

I remember Big Daz from the CWU forum .
All we need now is old trot veggie and his sparring partner, Stevie Archer wasnt it?
Do you still have those hand maidens looking after you? Or has Mrs dvbuk 55 put a stop to all that fun?

Ha Ha
No Hand Maidens Big Fella - Have had a spot of ill health in the last couple of years - hence the part timer now.
The old forum was closed down so quickly we didn't have time to organise - I'm glad we've a chance to share views again from various outposts of the RM Empire on which the sun is setting all too quickly.

A capitalist anti working class party - tee hee - lame brain.
Hi RMLD - I notice you had to change your name to be allowed on this site - I didn't get the old site closed down - it was the ne'er do wells at HQ and CWU Eastern afraid of criticism on the one hand and our good looks, charm and personality on the other.
I wonder how many of the old CWU site members there are here -and how we can get more members - how did my e mail get known for example - I try to keep it secret since the court case.

Sorry but calling someone a Lame Brain just coz they have different views is in my opinion not on. Disagree with him but dont resort to name calling please. Come back with a reasoned argument and you and he will get more respect.dvbuk55 wrote:A capitalist anti working class party - tee hee - lame brain..

What nonsenselovenotmoney wrote:The Labour Party is a Capitalist, anti-working class party and shouldn't be thought of as anything else.
Under Blair they drifted to the centre ground without beeing anchored amongst their traditional supporters/voters.
Look at the policies of the labour PARTY as made at its annual confrence and look at the policies of the labour goverment who are entitled by LAW to do what they want regardless of the views of the party from which they are drawn!
They are DIFFERENT! FACT !
The labour PARTY is run by its NEC which has only a handfull of the MP's that make up goverment on it.
Made up of representatives from each section of the party - government, MPs, MEPs, councillors, trade unions and CLPs. Members vote for their CLP representatives in a ballot each year. The NEC sets the party's objectives and oversees the running of the party nationally.

Perhaps lamebrain was too strong an expression for someone who is obviosuly ill-informed.
I think Big Daz put the case FOR very succinctly - I have had this argument many times before, though not on this forum, with politicists of many shades - the fact of the matter is that OLD Labour would never, will never be electable. The devil we know is better than the Tories and lets face facts - there IS only the choice of two if we are talking Government.

Re: labour, dont make me laugh
At Last someone who can tell the diffeence between party and goverment. The CWU as a founding union (postmans federation) should be helping the party to have more say and influence over GOV policy! Compare party policy with the views of the good people of the country and you will find they are more similar than comparing gov policy with the people of the country views!marky wrote:hi dvduk55 yes had to change my name to many hit men after me, lol

Of course- you can be a member of the Labour Party - without voting for a Labour Government.
For example you like Bananarama
- they bring out a crap album - you don't like it - so you don't buy it. It doesn't mean the Groups crap - just that they got it wrong on that particular occasion. This Labour Government isn't going to change our world with its policies BUT I would still prefer this middle of the road Labour than some extremist Tory one.
