5.30 start, had to be back by 12, all sorted by early ips docket kings. whole office waiting for a hour for next lorry. bought some back as didn't go out on saturday. Com said as long as tracked and specials are done its alright to bring letters back. same tomorrow, will be fun as the mail is later arriving.
Don't know about other MCs but locally just about all DOs get all their SDs on the final dispatch
All our mail comes in on Sunday for Monday including special delivery.
Tuesday to Saturday the SDs come in at 5am.
Just shows not everywhere is the same with regards to dispatches, staffing and the use of casuals.
Who knew?
We are told we can’t deliver SDs to an empty DO, so Monday’s can’t go until Monday morning when the dispatch could be as late as 6am.

You'll possibly need an early start with the amount of manual letters that you're going to get. With the temperatures that we're getting it is or will very likely cause the machines to fail through bits of them overheating

The collections driver that came out to our place must have been a mirage then.

That's rather strange considering the value of the two Yorks of SDs is probably a lot less than the 20 Yorks of tracked but this is a quirky business. 😂

We have a Sunday operation so it's not really an isdue.
Just as an anecdote I once turned up at the DO to find 15 Yorks including SDs in the customer car park, the driver didn't have a key apparently and decided to offload there, didn't see him again funnily enough.

Stamp mail forms way less of what we put through the machines these days. A god chunk of wave 1 is probably DSA

Stayed out till 2ish. Was absolutely shattered. Luckily my day off today! My manager thought he didn't have to do the risk assessment until 12 weeks? Or is it supposed to be as soon as you tell them? 🤔

Unless you sequence wave 7 as an auto flow which should enable batch 54 to go through as a batch 3 along with batch 4, that then negates the need to run the IMF as an QED and both batches can be sent as a LOL through the auto funnel. As a result DOs would get their mail in 12 days instead of 16 and deliveries could start at 9pm.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

If a manager doesn't know that they really shouldn't be in a managerial position.

Health & Safety
for pregnant women

All workers have a right to be protected from hazards at work and employers have a duty to care for the health and safety of their employees. However, pregnant women have specific rights to protection at work, for themselves and their unborn child.

Employers have three specific duties:

1.To carry out a risk assessment. As soon as it is known that an employee is pregnant, a risk assessment should be carried out on their job.

Risk assessment should:
Identify all significant hazards to health and safety
Assess the risks they pose
Implement necessary effective control systems
Inform, instruct and train employees
Check the system works
Review the system controls and plans

2.To make temporary changes to working conditions and/or working hours to avoid exposure to health risks. If, having assessed a duty, the employer identifies a risk to a pregnant woman or an unborn child, they must provide alternative work which does not present any risk. Where a risk is identified as being the result of shift-working, the employer must provide alternative working patterns which do not
present a risk to the mother or unborn child.

3.To send an employee home on full pay if suitable alternative work cannot be provided. If suitable alternative work is offered, it is expected that an employee will undertake such work. Should a woman refuse to do so unreasonably, she would forfeit her rights to be sent home on full pay.

Well our place wouldnt have the space to hold both batches so theyd be sent straight back.

We'd send them straight back to you. The mech mail has been very quiet recently, in some cases for wave 1 you can get 2 or more batches for a DO on the same york.

If it's the CSSs that fail through overheating then the mech can be sorted down to batch level, with merged batches having to go over to the manual. If it's a IMP or iLSM that's failing then everything has to go to manual. If a letter doesn't have the orange barcodes on it, the CSS will reject it
