Why would anyone be surprised that they don't appear to give a damn ? .. anywhere with a red extreme weather warning should have had delivery suspended for that day .. end of .. no argument .. let's face it, they wouldn't care if we were incinerated as soon as we walked out the building .. it conjures up visions of the managers sending the first wave out the door like the Generals sending the brave cannon fodder over the top in WW1 and watching us fall before we even get to the gate .. and then sending the next wave out to suffer the same fate .. but reminding you to pick their lapsing up as you go past your fallen comrade ............

Obviously there's nothing stopping them advancing deliveries on Monday, mailcentre dispatch times are irrelevant.

Tuesday might be slightly different but given the lighter workload on a Monday night it is perfectly reasonable to investigate the possibility of advancing the work during the night even if it means extra staff.

This whole "can't be done" thing is nonsense, I'm pretty sure it's not that challenging if the motivation is there to do it.
You can dream on if you think we'll get extra staff in. Besides the work comes in later now, where as we'd get two lorries in from an RDC, on early, one late, they send a full one later.

You won't get the mail from the MCs any earlier, you can dream on if you think it's going to happen

We can't process the mail until it's arrived, it now comes in later than it used to :cuppa

With the DTS system, any batches that are a part of that can't be run before 00:01 so that means that wave 1 finishes later, so wave 2 is later. :cuppa

Either RM will suspend or amend deliveries in the red zone :cuppa

Pretty much the plan from our com yes, if we feel we can take more if we are out early enough then its encouraged but if we just want to the above its fine, think its a proactive solution to stop people phoning in sick.

It's called summer
And the last time you remember a summer like this.??
1976? Ah, but of course no-one was delivering their eighth bag at 2PM then. :cuppa

I thought it was all very clear cut when it came to a red weather warning: there is a danger to life in the locations and times the warning is in effect so deliveries within those are suspended.
I agree with you. my reply was to 2 loops saying its called summer.

What a very strange comment.
I have seen this comment elsewhere.
It is classic climate change denial.
The same people often talk of the shamdemic.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Sadly Space Phoenix is correct there is no start earlier get the work out to Delivery Offices earlier at Mail Centres so there will still be the same old get most of your Specials and Tracked on the last run at 6 10 despatch. To my colleagues on delivery only do what you feel comfortable with Royal Mail don't give a s**t about you or your safety. Take your breaks and when you feel you have had enough go back to the office with whatever you haven't delivered and go home and relax like most of the public will be doing during this heat wave

Maybe someone should tip off a national paper, then they can print a headline along the lines of “Royal Mail send out Posties in blistering heat!”

That's what we need that British Stiff Upper Lip. I'll be wearing my shirt buttoned up to the top and my Royal Mail Tie! :cool

On a serious note the Manager showed us the section on his Laptop that warns of any serious weather warnings, amongst other things. We were discussing the Red Warnings. He explained that this section is "Post Code Specific", at the moment we are forcasted as an Amber Warning Area.

So it's NOT going to be left up to Posties checking the Temperature Gauge in their van and then deciding they're not going out (as it appears some posters are thinking). :hmmmm The decision will be made by your Manager before you even go out. Of course once your out on delivery it's going to be left up to the Postie when he considers it's getting ridiculous.

Our Manger did mention that the problem's going to be that RM will want to claw back any hours lost due to suspending duties. Knowing the way RM think that's only logical. :cuppa

Its crazy that RM are now going against there very own H&S policy. The weather tool clearly states that a RED weather warning means deliveries are suspended. If they are going to re write the rules every time the outcome does not suit is there really any point of running the tool in the first place.

Anothing thing. How come when i have my rest day i always come back to 2 days mail in the frame and no one says a word ? Happens every week. Yet now getting everything delivered is SO IMPORTANT all of a sudden ?
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........
