I suppose if you work your day off that defeats purpose of striking some would think!

I don’t know how you lot would of coped if you was employed in 1987. It was all out for 2 weeks until an agreement was reached. One day is a waste of time. The runners will be in 2 hours early the next day and clear it all.

I was there in 87 and the rest, there was a pub just over the road from our office, pints upon pints and then scuffles among posties and police, very funnyShirtbuttons wrote: ↑14 Jul 2022, 20:32I don’t know how you lot would of coped if you was employed in 1987. People have bills to pay and families to feed. Most of us are living week to week. Cost of living rises, insulting pay deal, overtime ban, and that’s before we even go on strike.Shirtbuttons wrote: ↑14 Jul 2022, 20:32I don’t know how you lot would of coped if you was employed in 1987. I, like most will fully support a strike, but you must realise, that there is a point that we can’t reach. If, as you want, an all out, two strike was announced, how many, honestly in your office could afford it? How many could afford to lose more than one or two days pay a week? How many in your office would be forced to cross their own picket line or face the prospect of losing their home and their families?
Yes, I know that if we don’t make a stand, things will get a lot worse, but look around. What about Joe Bloggs who’s already three weeks in arrears with his rent, whose wife is ready to take his kids and go back to her mother because she can’t face another threat that her power will be cut off. What about old Harry who can barely make his mortgage payment this month, what about Sue, who is working full time but is already thinking about going to a food bank?
If we have an all out, two week strike, we’ll be back at work in a week, on imposed terms. The union know this, and so do RM. The only way we can possibly win this is by a series of rolling one days actions across the different functions

I’m lucky and can afford a 2 week strike but I get the last point made , but if we don’t make a meaningful protest we will be in the same position next year
