MP's voted in favour of changing the law last night .
It is now legal to bring in agency staff when employees are on strike
I haven't seen any mention of this on here.
We have three agency staff at our office and after speaking with them they will not be attending work on strike days
Also there is a new pay structure in place where new agency workers get minimum wage hence why nobody wants agency work with Royal Mail.
They would not be able to get enough agency staff to cover 1000+ delivery offices.
Tories changing the rules will have minimal effect within Royal Mail
In practice it's likely to be in the mailcentres that agency staff are used.
They are a bit of an expensive waste of time and a security risk at their best but especially in a delivery office.
Totally Agree We've had Agency Staff in our DO to "Help Out" at Christmas in the past. Totally Useless, and that's with Posties prepping the walks (tying up & numbering bundles) and leaving Maps & idiot guides.
The guy that was helping me spent most of his time sat on walls smoking and playing on his phone! (Residents later told me) He was taking about 2.30 to do an hours work .... and Simon thinks WE'RE too slow FFS.
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)
