It is also highly likely that some allowances like processing allowance and area supplement would be rolled into basic pay.
So they would give us a lump sum covering at least 2 years worth of any removed allowances? would you have needed to have worked for Royal Mail for a certain amount of time to receive this?
Who knows then.... I don't think Royal Mail have thought any of this through in detail yet.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

ok, thanks. Found it. From 23rd June.
Who knows - maybe things have changed since then.
I guess we just have to wait and see what the result of these meetings between the CWU and RM in relation to the changes are.

Well that makes 2 of you then. If you mention a lump sum to some they forget their original point.norris9 wrote: ↑12 Jul 2022, 19:41Interesting.2chorizon wrote: ↑12 Jul 2022, 19:06“Any removal of existing allowances will be via the buy out agreement and we will pay at least 2 years worth of the allowance being bought out” RM Reward & Performance director RMCTV

'Productivity bonus scheme'
Why announce this bonus scheme and still give no details about it? as far as I am aware this is based on the depots performance as a whole.....
Any bonus scheme that is based around depot performance is absolutely ridiculous! We all know you do not employ enough staff in our depots! so you are putting us in a losing position from day 1.
Although there's no specific details about this bonus scheme yet..... it is a no go in my eyes!
Royal Mail workers deserve a £500 end of year bonus without having to jump through hoops! It should be a guaranteed bonus every year for the hard work they do. Most go above and beyond daily, going over their time to clear their round.

Re: RMCtv : Simon Thompson : The changes we need
You are not immortal. Its there when you need it and it's foolish to say well my attendance is exceptional and assume it will always be excellent because I will never have any significant health problems. My attendance is exceptional at the moment also, but it's comforting to know we have a decent sick policy when we need it. Just be thankful that you havnt needed to use your sick allowance and don't be bitter about others using theirs because it is your choice not to use it when others do even for a slight fevernorris9 wrote: ↑21 Jun 2022, 18:27Improving how we manage absence
As I am not ill regularly I am not too fussed about this one. I am annoyed that there seems to be no understanding as to why absence is high. Try walking 10 miles a day, 5 days a week, under pressure, up inclines and steps, in the heat, snow and pouring rain.
You also mention that people being sick puts added pressure on colleagues....it's not people's fault they are sick / injured and it should not put pressure on other Posties. If management are putting pressure on other Posties to do more to make up for someone who is off sick, then that is harassment.

RM and the Union are so far away from eachother it is pointless even discussing these proposals. Literally they are unworkable and totally unrealistic, whilst offering such a tiny pay rise. This could go on for a year or two because they are singing from two completely different hymm sheets

My gut feeling is that the later starts will happen anyway due to the savings RM would make with shift allowances

Martin...are the CWU health and safety and their lawyers all over this?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑20 Jul 2022, 21:22My gut feeling is that the later starts will happen anyway due to the savings RM would make with shift allowances
This weeks UK heatwave can surely only help our cause and show what a numptified idea it is try to send us out in the summer, as a starting point at the hottest part of the day and carry on right through until we deliver the lot (because we will have to) as the temperature continues to rise and peaks around teatime, unless the thermometer reaches 35 degrees and then we can stop and then royal mail will bank those hours for the winter. What kind of cloud cuckoo land is this?
The general public have been told to stay out of the hottest part of the day to avoid dehydration, skin cancer etc.
Every expert and their dog tells us that climate change is happening , but we are told that we need to start later, take our breaks in the shade, drink plenty of water and wear your wide brimmed hat that Royal Mail have so kindly provided. Wow and still we have no aircon in the vans. Even British gas employees have vans with aircon.
Now lets look at winter. It starts getting dark around 3.30pm in the height of winter, but we are being told that " team we are asking you to work an hour longer in the winter" and " team we are only asking you to start around 1 to 3 hours later".
So we are being asked/ told that in the winter when it gets dark and the temperature drops that we must carry on working until we finish . We are not just a parcel delivery firm, we are out on foot.
Clearly starting us at the hottest part of the day in the summer and making us work in the cold dark nights of winter trying to read letters and scrambling around in the dark is going to make us more productive

Once the pressure is applined to Coms from above, this annualised hours crap will inevitably lead to even more arguments and bullying over what the managers think we can do during our attendance span each day.......as if there isn't enough already.
