Nothing from Royal Mail in delivery office's about the extreme temperatures we are going to endure this Saturday through till Tuesday , up to maybe 40 degrees.
Surely there must be a limit to what we are expecting to do as 14 miles in searing heat from 9 till 2.20 is rediculous.
Its not OK for the top people saying just seek shade, there could be fatalities in this heat we are expecting .
Some rounds in my area with bungalow's have absolutely nowhere to shade and sitting in a scorching van is worse.
You wouldnt let a dog in a car in these temperatures so why us.
Oh don't forget your Lapsing and stay safe

Believe me we came back from delivery today after melting temperatures the Dom was standing there and all he was worried about was have you done your van check

The Met Office: Heat has the "potential to cause serious illness or danger to life".

The Met Office also warned that 'population-wide adverse health effects are likely' with 'substantial changes in working practices and daily routines likely to be required', while there could be a loss of gas, water and electricity



Royal Mail have us out in these conditions in vans with no air conditioning. Have to keep winding down windows whilst driving and then putting them up again for security reasons. This is a pain in the butt whilst delivering parcels or delivering post to houses by van rather than by foot due to distances between the properties. It's like driving around in a sauna.

Although there is no maxmimum workplace temperature in law,
You are entitled to work in “Thermal Comfort”
They must do a new risk assessment and put in control measures.

First step is to raise concern with your manager.

See TUC “working in extreme temperatures.

Work should be rotated so all employees get a chance to work in thermal comfort.

Everyone at your DO does 2hrs on van deliveries should do the trick. No exceptions.
