Heard a stat on the radio the other day, it said 6million people in the uk are on antidepressants, that quite a lot of mental health problems, then again maybe some gps hand them out like sweeties because they get a bonus on how many they hand out.

Or 10% of the population are pissed off with the government and how the cost of living affects them and the Gp's don't do face to face anymore?

I'm consistently having front line staff in my office telling me they are sick to the back teeth of their colleagues abusing the sick policy, as they have to pick up the extra workload.[/i]
So he's referring to the backstabbing "runners" who end up with additional lapsing and can't get home early and moan and complain about everyone and anything that stops them from finishing 1-2 hours earlier than everyone else?

Oh don't you just love the playground antics in DO's!!!!!
Don’t all DO’s have SISO clock in / out machines now? (or some other sort or PDA recording?)

“Going home early” should not be happening at all.
It has been totally erradicated in MC’s since SISO went live.

It is all monitored centrally from Sheffield and any discrepancies will generate an investigatory email to the offending plant .

We have bits of paper where people write illegible and often untrue times.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Same here ... Sheets of paper spread over a desk, find the one you're on and sign yourself in. If you come back at your time the sheets are already gone so a lot of people just write their finish time

Going home early was supposed to have been stopped about a decade ago with the "work all your paid hours" part of a pay agreement. Never happened.

You'd think that SISO would smash and bring to an end certain practices and perhaps outdated aspects of the job, but there is almost certain to be some kind of workaround with it.

At the moment especially on Mondays there isn’t enough work to take you to your time. There was very little at our office today. I don’t really understand what reps etc want us to do. Just hide out somewhere and come back at time. Surely the pda actuals let them know u are doing that anyway. If there is no more work surely u just just stay at the office enemy tho manager had told you to go home?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
