Which will put posties under pressure to stay out in the heat, because they know they will have to give the time back in the winter. It's patronising waffle.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote: ↑17 Jun 2022, 16:43This might be how they will try to build up extra time to deliver for longer in the run up to Xmas with the dodgy "annualised hours" proposal, which has no chance of working without a massive change in the rules of delivery engagement.priority102 wrote: ↑17 Jun 2022, 16:10He then went on to say......"just remember though you will have to make up the hours tomorrow that you have gained today".![]()

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The English - they do enjoy a natter about the weather don't they.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

What we need is clear instruction from the top. We know the 2 days of extreme heat are coming.
Monday we could take half the deliveries letters and clear up on the tracked on the the other half. Tue we could reverse it. Least that would get most people back by noon. Then when it cools we have the rest of the week to catch up with hopefully no one getting heatstroke and going off sick for the rest of the week or something worse like DEATH.

This'll be interesting now.
I do terribly all summer anyway (I can march around all winter in exchange, no issues with cold at all) but do they really want to be the company that sends us out in weather that could kill?

Does the 'level system' apply to the full country of England or is it on a county by county basis? Could you have a situation where England is level 4 and Scotland isnt and posties in Carlisle are treated differently from posties in Kilmarnock despite it being the same temperature?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Looking at the Met map only the center southern part of the country is on RED 4 Alert. The rest Amber Alert.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑15 Jul 2022, 15:46Does the 'level system' apply to the full country of England or is it on a county by county basis? and if people have booked annual leave on either of these days do they get that holiday back if everyone else at the depot doesn't have to come in? Some people may have specifically booked it off recently knowing it was going to be 30 degrees+, yet everyone else gets 2 days free holiday.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑15 Jul 2022, 15:46Does the 'level system' apply to the full country of England or is it on a county by county basis? I assume we'll have to work at least some of the day as it's not going to be 30 degrees during most of the morning.

Of course we will be they wont suspend the uso because its hot, itll be similar to when theres snow on the ground get the parcels done, do what letters you can, keep safe and if you get book early you cant claim ot for the rest of the week.norris9 wrote: ↑15 Jul 2022, 16:28and if people have booked annual leave on either of these days do they get that holiday back if everyone else at the depot doesn't have to come in?
