Only the puppet has gone; the puppeteers remain, as always, in the background pulling the strings.
The muppets will move as directed by the replacement puppet, who will have received a briefing from the puppeteers.
I think...
Sooner or later, a beat dog bites.

Re: RMCtv : Simon Thompson : The changes we need
If during some Summer months they want reduced hours....
Can't they just give us the opportunity to buy more holiday instead. I'd be happy to take the whole of July off unpaid.
There might actually be a lot of other people out there who would like more time off like this.
Work isn't flexible enough these days. You get 6 weeks off a year and that's it. It sucks. Slaves to the system. No flexibility to get more time off.
This probably wouldn't ever be offered as in my experience we are always understaffed and will likely continue to be understaffed even if they bring in shorter Summer days.

You will have to work 48 hour days for 11 months for your plan to work and RM don't think they could cover it hence why you have a leave plan so some people can have leave other than you in the summer!norris9 wrote: ↑08 Jul 2022, 22:31If during some Summer months they want reduced hours....

Re: RMCtv : Simon Thompson : The changes we need
Watching the latest Workplace Q&A from Matthew Winner(?) he's not only suggesting OPG's will be starting up to 3 hours later whilst being required to to work up to 44 hrs in the winter peak but also stay out until they complete their duty, by my reckoning that means we could start at as late 10 am & work to 5:30 pm mid week on a normally week but in the winter peak be out til at least 8:30 pm possibly later if we're struggling to complete.
I can't see anybody accepting that nonsense, surely it's not right to expect anybody to be pushing a trolley of post around at 9 pm or later on a dark winter night. I've no idea of the thinking behind it on unlit rural routes where the job would become be virtually impossible.

Hence why strike now so we don't all have to endure this crap anymore maybe they will move him on to the Movie Making business where fairy tales are told Mr Winner is not a patch on Michael Winner though!TopperGas wrote: ↑09 Jul 2022, 17:55Watching the latest Workplace Q&A from Matthew Winner(?) he's not only suggesting OPG's will be starting up to 3 hours later whilst being required to to work up to 44 hrs in the winter peak but also stay out until they complete their duty, by my reckoning that means we could start at as late 10 am & work to 5:30 pm mid week on a normally week but in the winter peak be out til at least 8:30 pm possibly later if we're struggling to complete.

Re: RMCtv : Simon Thompson : The changes we need
The fact that one of the caveats of the changes you 'need' is to bring new starts in on an inferior pay structure demonstrates that this is not about 'competing' with other courier companies, as you state, particularly when RM are producing profit.
Nevermind that these courier companies are NOT also delivering MAIL. Yes, remember the mail Simon? Or is that just a dirty little blemish that doesn't bring enough profit? Well certain parties would disagree.
Don't get me started on the 'flexi hours' and the 'adapting our network'.
I see that you want to transform us into the next Amazon. (Boy, haven't they done well for themselves!).
But let's understand that we're not Amazon, or DPD, or DHL, or whatever other courier you want to compare us to. We're Royal Mail. A standalone and distinct service that provides not just parcels, but required mail to the WHOLE of the UK.
And we're worth it.

Re: RMCtv : Simon Thompson : The changes we need
Hadn't seen the following mentioned in the 'changes we need'.....but I have heard the following
.....
1. They do not want to pay us for delivering door to door leaflets anymore.
2. They don't want us to have paid breaks anymore.
3. They don't want to pay Area Supplements anymore.
So what does that equate to in terms of pay.....obviously depends on the hours you work....and whether you get an area supplement or not...
Could be something like this monthly....
£120 monthly Area Supplement GONE!
£100 monthly door to door payments GONE!
£144 in paid breaks GONE!
Could be £264 gone from some people's pay per month....
but you will get back approx £44 per month due to the 3.5% pay rise. I am not going to include the £500 potential bonus as that's not guaranteed.
So you will be down approx £220 from your current monthly wage whilst inflation is 10% and having to work Sundays, longer winter days, work afternoons instead of mornings. etc etc etc.
Correct me if I am talking nonsense.

We haven't been paid for d2ds for years. If you are talking about the delivery supplement that zareena bint has already said that they aren't looking at changing that. Not heard anything about paid breaks but wouldn't suprise me. I've never had an area supplement so not something that I've looked intonorris9 wrote: ↑12 Jul 2022, 18:44Hadn't seen the following mentioned in the 'changes we need'.....but I have heard the following

It is also highly likely that some allowances like processing allowance and area supplement would be rolled into basic pay.

So they would give us a lump sum covering at least 2 years worth of any removed allowances? would you have needed to have worked for Royal Mail for a certain amount of time to receive this?
Who knows then.... I don't think Royal Mail have thought any of this through in detail yet.
