Just wondering how exactly is a manager going to work to rule? Apart from not answering his phone after a certain time.whats going to be different ours is always bit late then gone by the time we finish.
Ha ha, just like ours. I'm assuming them working to rule will actually mean them coming to work on time, staying until their finish time and the daily shopping and Greggs Run to be performed during their actual break.
Sooner or later, a beat dog bites.

It's an embarrassment when you see 5 managers at 10.45 am twiddling their thumbs, all the posties have gone out, two of them are out having fags every 10 minutes, one is on YouTube or tiktok sniggering away, while the frames have mail left in and there's parcel bags strewn all over the floor. "Who's getting the mcdonalds?".. "is it your turn to make the tea??"

Oh and yes they do complain they are hard done by

Pretty much sounds like my mc on the late shift but in reverse. 2pm-6pm absolutely nothing for managers to do most days until the part timers arrive for their evening shift.

Can’t think of any other business that would let an expensive part of the workforce idle so much and on such a scale?

Latest on managers dispute
Due to last minute developments that we believe you need to know about the Action Short of a Strike call has been suspended by the Union to allow a ballot to take place which will be released to you as soon as possible by email and mobile phone if you have allowed the union to contact you by those methods.

Please do not take any action on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Any queries contact your Divisional Secretary. Ballot to follow.

Unite rep. "We will strike for three days! That will show them!"

Managers. "Yeah! Yeah. Nice bit of time off. Stick it to them!"

Unite rep. "Exactly! Now before that we shall do a work to rule for five days. That will show senior management how much work we really do!"

Managers. "Wait. What?"

if RMs arse has dropped at the threat of managers work to rule, then i would think that would be a good sign for us if we threaten strike action. (just my opinion that though)

Managers always get a last minute deal.

Always.

The least surprising strike call off in the history of strikes. As far I can work out they've just been given a few more afternoon parcel COM jobs and a promise that no manager will be worse off which is pretty much exactly what they were offered at the beginning. If we don't get a huge YES with a massive turnout we will get offered the same bs 5.5% and probably have to lap it up and say a big thankyou and promise to work for free for at least 2 months of the year.

Unite/CMA withdraw ‘work to rule’ action

Following productive discussions with Unite/CMA we are pleased to advise that they have informed us in writing they are withdrawing the ‘work to rule’ action between 15th and 19th July.

It is important that we do all we can to protect our service and prevent potential disruption to our customers and consumers, especially given how damaging industrial action of any nature could be in the current environment.

The Unite/CMA ballot will now canvas the balloted population to end the dispute, including the strike action on 20th to 22nd July.
Whilst we welcome Unite/CMA’s decision today, the ballot remains live and we need to continue to prepare our contingency plans.

Managers who have been asked to support the operation should continue to undertake the relevant training sessions.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Management would never work to rule.
Too busy empire building.
If you had a room with six Managers and one caught fire the other five would sit and watch them burn while calculating what they could benefit from their cremated colleagues demise.
Awful human beings.

So, sounds like the managers got a new offer which they are going to be voting on. Have any details of this offer been released?

With the very rare exception, Royal Mail managers are a weird breed. A mixture of promoted posties full of their own self importance, kids who were bullied at school so are now on a power trip, all seeking to impress each other with how tough they are because they issued a warning or spied on their staff knocking off 15 minutes early.

A few steps down from a McDonald's manager.

Message from Ricky McAulay - Unite/CMA Suspends Strike Action

We are very pleased Unite members have voted to accept a range of proposals regarding the Delivering for the Future structure.

Planned strike action from Wednesday 20 to Friday 22 July has now been called off, although the Unite/CMA industrial action ballot remains live until 22 December.

Managers who were planning to support the operation during industrial action no longer need to attend their allocated delivery unit.

Thank you to those who have already completed their training and their site familiarisation. If you haven’t yet completed your online training, please do your best to do so - it is an important part of our general business resilience and contingency planning.

We look forward to working with Unite/CMA as we implement these proposals and move forward with the reinvention of Royal Mail for the next generations.
