It's not normally held in Liverpool is it?

Conference used to be held alternately in Blackpool, Bournemouth, and Guernsey (or was it Jersey?).
I would think the main reason for Liverpool would be to reduce costs.
Main considerations are suitably sized (and affordable) venue, accessability, and sufficient accomodation
for delegates.

Apparently we are the first big union to use this Conference venue and in a bid to attract others to the facility the CWU picked it up very cheap in comparison to Bournemouth / Blackpool

If there is a drive to save costs then limit the expenditure to a single conference for all members.

Then why not sell the London HQ and buy somewhere more central to the membership as opposed to the bottom of the world.

Maybe they wouldn't be able to claim all the perks for Lunnun livin in say Birmingham - having said that if they did move there you can bet your ar*e
there would be an overwhelming case for even bigger perks.

Now I have heard Lunnun called a lot of things but NEVER a village - oh yes - I remember it now, there was a filum about it - Village of the Damned.

Isn't 7oaks part of the great metropolis then? I thought it was all built up south of Brum.

As far as I am concerned the "metropolis" stops inside the M25 ( Sevenoaks is outside ), but for cost of living, crime, traffic, stress it might as well be, although that is probably the same of anywhere....at least of those places where your sister can't be considered to be your wife as well.

My brother lives in Berkshire and that is quite rural - I think he married our sister - up north here we aren't too concerned with relative marriage it is quite common, almost as common as keeping our own sheep in the garden and if we haven't got a garden we keep it in the bath - oh yes you can't beat a woolly loofah. Next year we are having an inside toilet fitted!

In all seriousness - that has to be better than some snotty 14 year old mugger pointing a shooter in your face ( which has happened to friend of mine in London! ) Can you guess why I'm starting to think I want to move out of the SE to one of the afore derided areas of the country?

TBH smoker I don't know that it's any different anywhere else, we live in a violent society - I live in a moderately sized town where guns aren't heard of much but because of the motorway links drugs are a problem. Not related to drugs I presume but a young girl of 14 was stabbed 30 times in the local park. Is it any wonder we worry when our children are out at night.

TBH I think you have to accept drugs in every town and city.......but if you can raise your kids anywhere violent attacks are minimised, you would naturally yearn to go there....any jobs going on the Isle of Man?
