Manager to save 100 hours a week in delivery office

Our manager has just informed us this week that he has to save a 100 hours a week to meet this years target, completely unrealistic in my opinion considering he has already cut out 1 full time duty and cut another full time duty in half last year. This target is absolute madness and I have also seen the targets for other nearby offices which are also unrealistic.
There is a rumour that the said manager recieved 5k bonus after tax for making the savings last year so obviously if this is true he will be "baying for blood" this year. The rounds are already to full stretch and there is a huge amount of growth in our area including the rurals too.
The manager is truly a jobsworth and very keen and eager to progress through the ranks..
There is no way these rounds can be cut anymore without having a severe effect on service and the morale of the posties (which is already at an all time low). There is only 33 rounds full and part time and to put 3 hours extra work a week on each round "or" half an hour a day (whichever way you look at it) on each round with no extra pay or time to do it in which are already at capacity with many having to cope with growth is bordering on insanity!!!
A lot of the staff are screaming for EVR and the danger is if they leave they won't be replaced.

I am in a union position and want to know what is the best stance to take on this farce, and if any other offices have been given instuctions on making ridiculous savings and what their union reps stance is on the matter!!!

Same thing is happening in my DO but all we are doing is laughing at our DUM, he can try forcing the cuts through but I (as well as many others) will not be doing any extra

I suggest he sack's himself a thus save 40 hous on the pay roll and find the other 60 between the manager's at the coffee machine!.

I suggest he sack's himself a thus save 40 hous on the pay roll and find the other 60 between the manager's at the coffee machine!.

I'll suggest this too him in the morning, and make the point that its a good idea to rid of any "dead wood" in the office. We could then replace him with a robot!!!

Yes I agree hardly worth it, I would personally do the job "properly" by claiming overtime when neccesary and I would be better off by doing this alone...Only fools and horses work for nowt!!! agreed??

I totaley agree but it is royalmail's policy to eradicte overtime payment's and save every hour posibile but that does not mean we have to make it easy for them does it but some do and will regret it in time to come!.

Im very supprised that union rep's have not been issued with mirror's to repell the doms with when they ask for saveings this year!.

I should imagine it would be a very good time to do the job properly and no more no less!.
