I am an ex senior manager in RM until 2020 when I was effectively forced out of the business, hey ho I would say my life is better now, but if I was there now I couldn’t support this, even as a senior director, so I totally support a full YES vote, dont let this new management of RM try and fool and bully you, it’s criminal and is only there to benefit one group of people and that’s the mega rich shareholder, after all what does car manufacturing know about delivering parcels and letters

How does not knowing when you will finish on a daily basis conducive to a correct work life balance/ family friendly employment? Giving 4-10 weeks notice (and let's be honest it'll be more like a week knowing how fast and loose the screws play with the existing rules regarding notice of days off) is no f***ing use if you still can't make it to lets say pick the kids up from school. "Oh but you've had 4-10 weeks( one week) to arrange something" Yes, something that has been scuppered by moving the goalposts at the last minute. If that scenario is possible/probable/likely on a day to day basis what exactly does one do to plan for a later than expected finish on any day. Have grandparents on stand by every day?
You're f***ing deluded.
Commit to deliver. Hmmmm NO. Not in a million. Its an open invitation for c*** screws to hammer you with no comeback. Oh sorry, even after all the planning we've done we STILL can't get the forecast correct even on an office-wide basis so cancel your home life.
We also couldn't help but notice you sly shitheels have slipped monthly pay into the mix either.
When would one be able to cash in the flexitime BTW?
If it isn't when we need it (like it never has been no matter how much notice was given to you c***s) then what f***ing earthly use is that to anyone except you? Can we trade them for actual cash cos timed owed that is only given when it suits the business is as much use as Anne Frank's drumkit. I'll bet there's not a hope in hell of getting them back during the longer shifts either.
What would happen if someone worked the short shifts but left when the long shifts began?
Anyway I've droned on long enough,. Hope you management and board slags know you are truly despised.
Toodles.

Royal mail is run by absolute nutters.. they are God damn insane.. they all need to be in a nut house..Weetrogg2 wrote: ↑23 Jun 2022, 21:50As a local rep I would normally sit down with management and point out rationally the flaws in their latest proposals but these individuals at the top who think this is workable or acceptable are obviously bat s**t crazy.
These proposals can only be met with one response - F##K OFF you cranks!!!![]()

They make it sound so simple but are killing any work/life balance for the workforce.
The biggest lie is that they don't want to be part of the gig-economy and yet they are trying to create it but with a different name and model. Instead of a zero hours contract you get a 1924 annual hour contract (37x52) and they then decide when you work it! Then subtle comments about our "competitors" paying per item delivered, but of course RM only count packets as items, letters and d2d aren't included.
I currently have three medical appointments booked for later in the year, all booked late afternoon to avoid working hours. These are booked months in advance to guarantee the appointment time, getting 4-10 weeks notice would wreck all chance of knowing I can attend them.

These expectations and new changes they want are are bordering on criminal!! Let’s hope the CWU backed by another massive YES vote can prevent the executive action that they will surely be contemplating to bring these changes
In. If they get away with this the job will not be worth it. Sorry to say

When work life in this day and age is becoming more flexible ie. working from home and the recent start of UK companies trialing a 4 day working week for no less pay.....
Instead, Royal Mail want us to go backwards. More towards slave labour.
-Working all days of the week.
-Changing our start and finish times dramatically.
-Wanting us to clear our rounds no matter how long it takes.
-Dreaming they can bank hours in the Summer when they will lose hours as 'short' days do not exist.
(my round is approx 30mins too long right now. I will be claiming back time at Xmas)
Who is going to work for a company like this if all these changes occur alongside a massive loss in real income. Meanwhile other companies could well be offering a 4 day week, no weekend working, fair pay, with an option of working from home.

I’m wondering what happens if you start midway through the year or leave midway through the year. Will they pay your excess hours? Probably not. Will you have to pay back what you owe? Definitely…
Imagine starting or coming back off sick and doing 45 hour weeks plus over the winter without having done the shorter summer (which is in the same tax year)

Our competitors don't walk around the streets for over 4 hours in all weathers. They probably don't have the same fatigue levels.

If you have a day off sick in summer, would it be classed as a partial day sick as it's less hours than a full day?

So what happens when we go over the alloted time? Bank hours for 3 payments a year?
