FYI Merseyrail accept 7.1% pay deal

Post by Skuse »

Just saying for a private company to offer this and it was accepted I think we would jump at it but only if it was no strings? What do you all think ??
It might open the floodgates in my opinion for other firms to offer decent rises like this one

Still less than inflation at 9.1%, so effectively a 2% wage cut.

So you don’t think that’s the best on offer in any industry? I believe NOBODY is getting more IMO

Yes great for waste operations but council tax will surely rise because of it ….it also mentions Nurses getting 3% which I have mentioned the other week and I got slagged off for it (even though my wife is a nurse specialist)

I guess we have to be realistic an inflation pay rise isn’t a pay rise it’s just keeping up so to be fair that’s all we have been doing the last few years with so called deals of the century it’s the strings that are the danger otherwise we could have 2 disputes 2 ballots which will be a nightmare

7.1% isn't inflation busting, anything less than 9 for us is a joke

Think if we ever get offered around 5-5 to 6% we will do well. ( no strings attached of course).

So reading that, it says 17% this year and 7% next year giving them 24%. And yet it also says this takes their pay up to 23000 per year. 24% takes them upto 23 grand....you have to say its a rise that is essential to put them on anything that resembles decent.....even then its still less than us and i wouldnt say ours is great. If we got 24% it take us to over 31 grand a year. Bring it on :Very Happy

I would contemplate accepting 6% No strings attached but RM must recognise we are taking what will be a 40 - 50% below inflation pay rise (in other words a pay cut) and this must be taken into account the following year in pay negotiations, again without strings as there's a separate procedure in place for change.
It would also be nice if the company genuinely recognised the work we have all put in through covid and awarded the staff a respectable one off lump sum as other company's have.
I can think of 140000 reason for this and it would help the staff feeling the cost of living pain now rather than later.
Thats so long as the company obviously remains profitable and dosent fall off a cliff edge or get lost at the crossroads😒
I'm sick of hearing similar storys year after year when it's time for a pay rise and it seems to happen just after the shareholders have been looked after, it's getting very repetitive now.

The RMT negotiated a four year pay deal of annual increases of RPI + 0.2% for London Underground workers. It means this year they get a rise of 8.4%.

Yes well Comedian Khan is extending the ULEZ to London wide next year so the poor motorist will pay for it.
