I'd be very mildy curious as to the success stats of Sunday parcel deliveries, especially for this summer's holiday period...

When by the sounds of it RM are paying OPGs (currently at premium rates) to spend expensive fuel, driving around to attempt delivery of parcels that the receivers have seemingly not requested and are not expecting. Which if not delivered are automatically put out for delivery the next day, using more driver time and potentially more fuel if not visiting that address anyway.
Why wouldn't somebody who's taken the trouble to order something on the internet not expecting it to be delivered? No doubt if it didn't arrive when they expected it they'd soon be complaining! As far as re-deliveries I can't understand why we only offer that service automatically for LATs parcels.
I think what ILMRT was trying to say that people don't expect a Sunday delivery, they just order something and the sending company
just defaults to it's 'normal' delivery which sometimes now appears to be a T24 contract which then goes out on a Sunday (which they are not expecting). Also how often have you delivered something and the person opens the door and says 'Now what have they been ordering!!'

Probably a very sizeable chuck of the companies that use T24 will email the recipient once an item has been dispatched stating what day it's due for delivery and possibly also an estimated time slot

Have there been no national instructions issued as to how to deal with items delivered from LAT Hubs that for what ever reason are " Undeliverable "

The briefest info that I've seen I saw on here (Postman post dated 20 Jan 22 on this thread and not through 'official channels'
but Postman obviously got it from somewhere 'official'):

Nope, as with my adidas parcel, ordered on Saturday, had an email to say it had been despatched, but no delivery day. I didn't know that it was going to be delivered on the Sunday until it was scanned out for delivery at 12:30pm.

Did it have a PF label on it?

Should possibly be Reissued / Updated
As LAT Hubs become The Office Of Delivery for Items Of " Shoebox " size or over , it may not be possible to transfer the items to the local DO for re-delivery

No, T24.
I wonder if the bit of their system that generates/states the delivery day is setup for PF and not T24, maybe that is why the delivery day isn't stated

Of all the stuff I've ordered I've never had a specific delivery date from the sender on dispatch when using RM.

It's always 1-2 or 3-5 days even when they use tracked 24 or 48. Whether this is a throwback to the old days or not I'm not sure.

It's not until it enters our system that you get to know when it's actually due to be delivered.

Maybe it's a limitation of the software that generates the T24 postage labels. I would have expected the really big senders to perhaps scan any "dispatched" items as ready for collection by RM/PF

I've heard that Royal Mail have recruited new staff just to work the Sundays. They have a contract to work one day a week.

So they train them up and give them all new uniforms.

What other company wastes money like Royal Mail? Also, you would think that with all these extra staff that Royal Mail employ that all deliveries would be delivered everyday.............

The recruitment of Saturday/Sunday only staff has been mentioned for years under the innovative duty pattern bullshit they use to mollify the workforce every time the shower of c***s want to flip us over and go in dry. Never ever happened in our office. Blank stares all round when questioned about it.

The last few times in our office when hopefuls have come in for a job interview and Sunday working is mentioned, they soon catch on that they might only get 4 Sundays off a year! They exit the building quicker than if there was a fire drill.
