I can only speak for my office which is an LAT office.

Any Sunday deliveries proper to our office that aren't delivered go out on Monday's core delivery.
Any from surrounding offices go out on Monday LAT.
None go back to the MC.
Undelivered Monday-Saturday LAT parcels for surrounding offices are returned to the MC for next day core delivery.
To be honest it's very few.

We can't 739 them because we're delivering to different D/O areas so don't have correct cards and wouldn't be able to drop pkts off at their local office anyway. They come back to the lat hub office and go out to be divered by the appropriate local D/O on Monday...... supposedly... again, like I said, a complete waste of time and therefore money.
More likely go out to be delivered Tuesday. Inward MCs process the inward mail AFAIk (I don't work weekends) during the day Sunday so by the time that the LAT posties are arriving back at the LAT hub, the MC will be doing the final dispatch to the DO
Yet again you dont know do you, The delivery offices send a van to collect them from the lat hub early the next morning.
Nope they are returned to MC on the Sunday day and the MC Drivers deliver them to the DO's on the Sunday Night/Monday Morning along with the rest of the work

Nope we (I) go to the Lat hub from our office at 6am and collect the undelivered stuff in a van and it gets scanned in with the IP Monday morning.

It's kinda typical RM that we have three different processes there to deal with one issue.

It also shows that what happens in one mailcentre or DO can't be extrapolated across the entire network.

I'd be very mildy curious as to the success stats of Sunday parcel deliveries, especially for this summer's holiday period...

When by the sounds of it RM are paying OPGs (currently at premium rates) to spend expensive fuel, driving around to attempt delivery of parcels that the receivers have seemingly not requested and are not expecting. Which if not delivered are automatically put out for delivery the next day, using more driver time and potentially more fuel if not visiting that address anyway.

Our LAT hub just whacks them out on the van for 'normal' delivery the next day (Monday) and we find that they've got
'Inaccessible' and Sundays date written on them.

This annoys me when I have to go there the next day and they start asking questions about why it was inaccessible. By all means scan them as that but there’s no bloody need to write it over the parcel. Makes us look Mickey Mouse :left:

It's a total waste of money anyway. 90% of people you deliver to on a Sunday don't even know its coming, so they don't actually need it then. Extra wages and fuel with the cost of diesel now, all to deliver stuff very few actually want on Sunday. Madness.
This, I've had 3 Adidas parcels delivered on a Sunday, you don't pay for delivery, none of them were urgent.

Adidas pay for them to be delivered though and they obviously want them delivered on a Sunday as well.

Adidas send everything out Tracked 24 with signature(I know they also use ParcelForce24). So delivery will be attempted the next day, doesnt matter what day of the week it is. We havent paid any extra for it but I imagine its part of the contract with RM

We label the LAT stuff for the MC to collect. This is LAT we deliver for other postcodes. Our office LATs are P739d. Most of the time it goes with the core the next day but sometimes it comes back to us in the next days LATS. Sometimes its comes back two days later.

We are lucky if the undelivered Sunday LATs get back to our office Tuesday.

Think the contract was originally with PF who were overloaded so some started to be done by RM. Not sure if absolutely every PF item requires a signature, don't know if they have any non-signature options

Why wouldn't somebody who's taken the trouble to order something on the internet not expecting it to be delivered? No doubt if it didn't arrive when they expected it they'd soon be complaining! As far as re-deliveries I can't understand why we only offer that service automatically for LATs parcels.
