A bloke in our office just stood against our rep (whose history for looking out for Number 1 is second to none). Incredible really that forty five people couldn't be bothered voting in the election and that some voted against the challenger because he takes a hard line on car use and unpaid early overtime. which the flyers don't like. As a result, we're about to lose three members who don't trust the elected rep.

Given what has gone on at national level with Hayes and Ward over recent months, leaving the union is a perfectly natural thing to consider, but one I would seriously advise against. A little solidarity comrades! This is a long war and the sell-out leadership of the CWU can't hang on for ever. Once 'flexibility' falls on its backside and the scribes and pharisees of the CMA start acting the hard man against the weak and vulnerable, the quiet and the inoffensive, the rank and file of the CWU will be the best weapon we have to fight back.

Solidarity Forever!

The thing that is bugging everyone on our shift is this thing of S/A`s over our duties. Our shift manager quoted the way forward to us the other day about protecting peoples earnings.Surely the union are duty bound to protect pay and conditions,ie our duties. No overtime should come before peoples duties, and that`s what S/A`s are after all.And it also means that the union in MK are not doing their job.Pretty soon there wont be any duty holders to do S.A`s.Its a disgrace that the union in our office are doing this to us.As to our shift reps,i think they are doing their best under the circumstances,i dont blame them, its the people above them.

Telling me anything and everything I like is hazardous to one's health

Murphy's Law states ( amongst other things ) that anything enjoyable is either illegal, immoral or fattening

Well, it kinda helps, mate. 15, that's my guess. I know most of Royal Mail's management comprise of some of the lardiest lard arses in existence, but
surely not one of 'em could polish off more than three packs of Tesco's extremely delicious doughnuts?.......... Hang on a mo, though. :Very Happy

Ah, but aren't our elders and betters ( ;liar :left: ) taught to excel at everything that is their responsibility? Don't you think that they are instructed to reach and maintain the highest levels that their abilities permit and to always strive for better? Isn't it obvious that 3 packs of Tesco's finest is merely a stroll in the park for any, but the most callow of them? A pre-tea break snack, even ( especially for those screws with their own gravitational pull )?

:whistle
