Re: Pay increase imposed without agreement?
Absolutely this. They would give you a time to be back, carry on working and it is effectively unpaid as it will be added to a day in December no matter what.HTPostman wrote: ↑15 Jun 2022, 18:41Again lots of assuming but they could cut X minutes/hours from certain days in the summer and just tell you to make sure the tracked are done. I think the problem we have is we all assume (that word again!) that we’d deliver every single letter, club card statement, D2D on a given day when we know if RM pushed this through they’d simply tell us to be back at the DO an hour early, just do tracked and 1st class, then that hour is ‘banked’ for winter. Very dangerous times.
Apart from how they "manage" this system when I never trust that my weekly overtime will be right, I also wonder what will happen if someone leaves in October - they will have been paid for more hours than they have worked. Do RM plan to chase people for over payments that have only happened due to their fartarsed system in the first place

Am I being stupid but doesn't this virtually 'kill off' small O/T amounts in one swoop? Half an hour worked over your 'core' onfb1969 wrote: ↑15 Jun 2022, 19:06Absolutely this. a busy summer Wednesday is credited back to you to take at some unspecified vague time?

They must be assuming that most people finish before their time every day in summer which can't be the case surely, certainly isn't for me anyway. I intend to just work to my time everyday and the banking arrangement will be a moot point.

Re: Pay increase imposed without agreement?
My feeling is that they assume/know/expect the average postie to go a little bit over because a lot do to provide a 'service'. They still mention overtime to cover other duties so I guess that will still be available - but again, how will they "manage" it while they are also obsessed with banking hours for Christmas.yellowbelly wrote: ↑15 Jun 2022, 19:21Am I being stupid but doesn't this virtually 'kill off' small O/T amounts in one swoop? They could chip away at the working week in the summer. Say Monday and Tuesday you are told to get back 1 hour before the normal finish time as that hour will be banked, then on Wednesday to Friday they do with same with 30 minutes earlier back. That could easily be 3hr30m banked every week, do that for a couple of months and you have 28hrs banked away for the Christmas period, that is an extra 7 hours every week for the traditional four week pressure period.

How would all this speculation affect the drive toward a 35hr week?

Re: Pay increase imposed without agreement?
With RM wanting new starters on 40 hours, I think the handbrake is now welded on.pieoftheday wrote: ↑15 Jun 2022, 19:56How would all this speculation affect the drive toward a 35hr week?
RM are more likely to be pushing us towards a 35 hour day.

Annualized hours won’t work unless you actually have smaller walk in the summer, if not you just take longer and your full break and I know I rarely come back before my time even in the summer so I will simply cut off in the heavy times

Re: Pay increase imposed without agreement?
Always knew this day would come, little smiley I love all the working class posties Simon Thompson has fully unmasked and shock horror he’s a millionaire predator just like every other ceo in the history of humanity.
Putting aside the fact 2% is nowhere near enough, he isn’t using executive action out of the goodness of his heart to gift us the payrise. This is a trial run and in a few weeks/months time these mental changes will be forced through and Terry pullingers only response will be to scream down a camera on the Cwus Facebook page. Anyone thinking strike action will help us might be sadly mistaken I’m afraid. You can guarantee Royal Mail already have a solid case ready to go in court to scrap our ballot. The Cwu won’t realise until it’s too late.

Lets all have a 1 week break. We can put our legs up and recover from probably the most physically demanding job in the country. We deserve a break.
Maybe the managers can go out on some of the rounds and see what it's really like. Maybe Simon can come in and give it a go.
Meanwhile the backlog of parcels and post will me a complete mess and they will realise how much they need us.

Maybe so. I think a lot of offices are already at the point of walking no matter what though. RM are just pouring more petrol onto the fire by the day.

You wont be told to get back 30 mins before your finish time. Your finish time will just be 30 mins earlier in the summer.
