Ballot dates revealed : Update 21 June CWU-Today we will be serving a notice on Royal Mail Group over a pay claim
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Ballot dates revealed
hope i'm wrong, but it may not be the landslide 'yes' the union thinks it will be. there's bound to be people, (especially younguns) that will think...'well 2% is better than nothing' ...there's already been a couple in ours saying a strike will cost them money. ...but 2% is only £9.68 on a d.o. posties wage. if you factor in inflation and the rise on energy bills its a steep pay cut in real terms.

Re: Ballot dates revealed
Think you could be right,as this ballot is only about the rise and nothing to do with any of the changes i think most will see any rise as better than losing money striking.
The ballot on changes will be very different though.

Re: Ballot dates revealed
Terry said that the company has dropped - at least for now - its threat to put through changes by executive action, that they'd be going back to talks on that next week. So yeah, I completely agree with you.2yearpostie wrote: ↑14 Jun 2022, 17:27Think you could be right,as this ballot is only about the rise and nothing to do with any of the changes i think most will see any rise as better than losing money striking.

Re: Ballot dates revealed
Speak for yourselves, a 1% pay rise last year, our pay is slowly but surely going down to minimum wage.
No one in there right minds is going to get out of bed, walk 9-12 miles per day in the knowledge that at 45 they are physically knackered!
Anything less than 5.5%, they can go shove it & I think I’m being generous.

Re: Ballot dates revealed
the original pay rise on offer including any golden carrots dangled is still an effective pay cut due to inflation! please see through their poverty stricken appearance and look at yourself, they are still eating very well whilst we must cut our cloth accordingly, there are much more troubled issues rife within the group that they chose to ignore2yearpostie wrote: ↑14 Jun 2022, 17:27i think most will see any rise as better than losing money striking.

Re: Ballot dates revealed
Prepare for Royal Mail to be pleading poverty, saying we have to change for pay and saying the economy at moment is reason for such a rubbish pay offer.
The same company that made record profits of £780 million on backs off frontline staff.
With ballot ending on 19th July - if RM dont stop action through injunctions (which they will try at a huge cost) - we are looking at strike action towards end of July / beginning of August. This leaves lots of time to reach an agreement but at moment looks unlikely

Re: Ballot dates revealed
Each 1% is about £250 a year, not just in the 1st year though but in every future year you work for Royal Mail. On that basis it’s worth losing afew days pay per percentage gained. Nobody can afford to strike but on the other hand nobody can afford not to. Need to look at the bigger picture.daveyeff wrote: ↑14 Jun 2022, 17:10hope i'm wrong, but it may not be the landslide 'yes' the union thinks it will be. there's bound to be people, (especially younguns) that will think...'well 2% is better than nothing' ...there's already been a couple in ours saying a strike will cost them money. ...but 2% is only £9.68 on a d.o. posties wage. if you factor in inflation and the rise on energy bills its a steep pay cut in real terms.

Re: Ballot dates revealed
According to the internet, the next dividend payment is on 28 July.
Expect all that money to be flushed down the drain (vis-a-vis our stock price) if a strike has been voted upon. Maybe that's what the union is thinking, to hold that hostage?

Re: Ballot dates revealed
With COVID back on the rise again would RM seek to stop any potential industrial action through the courts citing essential workers, i'd like to say they wouldn't have the gall but we know they have no shame.

Re: Ballot dates revealed
The CEO assumes posties are immune to covid and every other illness. No one in RM should ever be off sick, they're just lazy bastards.
So says the CEO of a company with a share price around 50% of what it was a year ago. The only real rise was after he lied to the markets.
