This sounds like our workplace coach, he moans & groans about having a new starter with him, then bad mouths to other posties, it’s like having a second gaffa on the job when he’s around, running into the office tickle tackling. The grass.

How the hell our WPC gets away with what he does is quite astonishing

The union and Royal Mail know the workplace coach roles are not fit for purpose and don’t do what they were designed to do.The union in my opinion see it as a win because they are getting company money into a few pockets of certain employees.It’s a complete waste of money that should be better targeted at actually achieving something.

i am definitely not a wpc, but we have at least 4, 1 is phg and the other 3 do attempt to train folk up, nice £30ish earner where someone will claim it on ot so crack on

Shame you are leaving after only 2 days , I've mentioned out workplace coach before , her walk is the training walk , so sometimes she is not on it for 6 months a year and becomes a reserve when a new entrant is on her walk for the first 6 weeks or more .
She does all the presentations for any new products etc and is currently doing one for the replacement
of the star gun.
Our Dom did say that if he had to pay her overtime for what she does each week she would be better off than the 40 pounds a week she gets.
Despite the naysayers on here it's still a good job, we have had one person leave for another job in the 10 years and still have people at 67 delivering .
Yes there are changes ahead but I always tell new starters to stick with as when the job clicks into place you wonder why you had doubts if you ever did .

How come my office union rep has to reapply every 2 years.But work place coaches are set in stone.No other f****r gets a look in.I refuse to be a wpc.Not that i have had the chance.I got enough to do looking out for myself without teaching someone,not all by the way,that don't give two monkeys about the job.There are still a few like me that actually enjoy doing this job.The office banter in my unit is first class,and i have made friends for life.Yes the job is stressful most of the time.But if I know I am going to struggle (which has been for the last 2 years) to complete my duty,I inform the DOM,and his instructions are,do as many loops you can,but the'TRACKED MUST BE DONE.'Sacrifice everything else.

This is a really sad indictment of Royal Mail and the union. We all know the work place coach roles in the majority of offices are not fit for purpose. In my experience these roles are filled by the lazy arse lickers that are only concerned about themselves and picking up an extra few quid , they basically do nothing all year round to justify earning that money and when they have something to do they act like this .In my opinion the union cause more problems than they solve and I say that with over 30 years experience.

Turnover of new staff is absolutely shocking, RM know this and have tried to improve it ( apparently ) but if my office is anything to go by it’s probably getting worse. No training, put on walks with unachievable workloads, not getting Saturday’s off, given Tuesdays off every week, change of day offs and start times with no or very little notice … the list goes on and on.
