Delivering for the Future - two weeks to go

In less than two weeks our new delivery structure will officially go live.

All our new appointees are involved in workshops that will help us to shape our new ways of working. They are also getting to grips with their brand new Surface Pros which started arriving last week.

Delivering for the Future is an important and exciting step forward in the reinvention of Royal Mail - check out this short video to see why.

So where are the Unite Union on this?

Radio silence. No action. As expected.

Working together to Deliver the Future

Today’s the day we start to stand up our Delivering for the Future structure. I am really looking forward to sharing my determination to return Royal Mail to its very best.

I know the last few months have been uncertain and frustrating. Change is incredibly challenging, particularly when it affects us at a personal level. Thank you for your patience.

Many of you have started your day in a brand new location, getting to know a new team. Others are in a familiar place but adjusting to some new ways of working. There will be bumps in the road but the support will always be there for anyone who puts their hand up and asks for help.

I also want to acknowledge the colleagues who are leaving the business, many of them following decades of service. We wish them all the very best.

I’ll be getting all our ops managers on regular catch up calls soon – so you can get to know me and I can better understand your daily challenges and opportunities.

Have a great day and an even better week.

Thanks,
Grant McPherson
Chief Operating Officer

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Is all this meant to herald a new start and an end to the local issues we've been having for the past 3 years?

It's a reshuffle of the same old faces, just a few less of them.

They ain't interested in resolving local issues, it's a pure money saving exercise.

The way I look at it, the average line manager struggled to cope with the simple daily tasks they had, give them more responsibility and a different way of working and it won't end well.

It's all going to end in tears. We have a line manager with managerial experience in a field totally different to RM. They have always been budget driven to the point of madness....banning overtime, refusing to pay overtime, endlessly quoting figures etc.

In the past we just went to the DOM and got their lunacy overruled. Now they have their own little fiefdom and total control of a budget... :arrrghhh

So how is this going in other offices, it seems to be getting worse by the day at ours. They all seem depressed now as well as out of their depth like I posted above.

We are supposed to have 2 COMs.
On Friday we had 4 managers as they can't manage with 2.
The mail is still failing.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

If there was no incentives for the managers bonus wise to push all this on us , we perhaps would give a bit more to the company knowing that we are really all in this together. Never known a company that treats people like they are lazy after one easy day when many times going beyond on busier days .
