I agree we most definately need it now, but if anyone can remember we used to have our pay rewiew later in the year. About end of summer into autumn time. RM got it shifted to April years ago because it was too near the festive period for them to risk industrial action. Later in the year is most definately the right time to play it in my opinion anyway

The right way to play it would be General Strike now.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I wonder if we will get offered the last two hours reduction in the FT week along with ~3%? Contract hours reduction doesn't pay the bills, but I sure as hell couldn't complete my duty as it stands, 24mins earlier each day (it's often very tight as it is on the "shorts and longs" brought in last autumn). Optional overtime on all but the very lightest of days.

There were further negotiations yesterday and there further talks scheduled next week.
For the record the CWU are not stringing it out. There are gate meetings going on and in line with the Law a membership validation exercise is going on to allow us to announce the industrial action ballot timescale.
For the record Royal Mail have hardened their positions on the conditions and they have gone into more detail about each of the conditions. I won’t go into the detail and those of you saying the union was scare mongering will be able to Judge this when you see what Royal Mail want to deploy on the following :
Later start times due to reduction in planes
Annualised hours / flex time
Compulsory Sundays at Monday - Friday rates
346 larger Delivery Office delivering all format 3&4 parcels later in the day.
A review of allowances / supplements
Reductions in sick pay
New recruits on worse terms and conditions.
The CWU are now considering a second industrial action ballot as we believe the above breaches the Pathway to Change Agreement.

Approx how long for the exercise to be completed? Can a ballot be announced as soon as the exercise is done or is there another hoop to jump through first?Martin Walsh wrote: ↑02 Jun 2022, 08:12and in line with the Law a membership validation exercise is going on to allow us to announce the industrial action ballot timescale.

No one was saying the CWU were scaremongering because RM werent proposing bad changes. They said the union were scaremongering because you know that its part of ''the game'' and they werent all realistic by putting the proposals out there, you are doing their job for them.Martin Walsh wrote: ↑02 Jun 2022, 08:12There were further negotiations yesterday and there further talks scheduled next week.

Royal Mail want us to be worried. It helps them achieve what their real targeted aims for this year are.
Ive personally seen it happen every single time that these disputes take place - you posting a whole host of changes RM want, and then the inevitable pretty lacklustre deal that follows and 'well it could have been worse, remember what they wanted!''
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Didn't the DRP start on Wednesday May 4th when talks broke down? By my reckoning that would mean the 4 weeks were up yesterday. Why have talks been extended to next week if as you say Royal Mail have hardened their position?Martin Walsh wrote: ↑02 Jun 2022, 08:12There were further negotiations yesterday and there further talks scheduled next week.

Hold the phone, if normal posties are starting later in the day (say 10am as our rep told us/ finishing at 6pm) how are the 346 larger d o s taking out format 3 and 4 parcels later in the day? more staff/vans, going out from 6pm till 2am?Martin Walsh wrote: ↑02 Jun 2022, 08:12There were further negotiations yesterday and there further talks scheduled next week.

Less vans required as the jobs will get revised again, extra half a job on each frame at a guess as u won’t have bulk.2yearpostie wrote: ↑02 Jun 2022, 11:55Hold the phone, if normal posties are starting later in the day (say 10am as our rep told us/ finishing at 6pm) how are the 346 larger d o s taking out format 3 and 4 parcels later in the day? more staff/vans, going out from 6pm till 2am?Martin Walsh wrote: ↑02 Jun 2022, 08:12There were further negotiations yesterday and there further talks scheduled next week.

Re: RMCtv : Ricky McAulay : Our updated pay offer to CWU : CWU reject Royal Mail Group pay offer - An update from Terry Pullinger DGSP
To answer some points :
There are 4 DRP processes in play at the moment. The CWU one on no strings pay and then Royal Mails on 1. pay with conditions , 2. Pipeline change to 346 Delivery Offices. 3. Who clears the machine breakdowns in the future on parcel machines other automation.
The DRP process requires both parties to be committed to talks to resolve these.
Even when the four weeks are up there will still need to be negotiations.
Members validation is always going to take longer when you have 1400 workplaces some with no reps and 120 thousand members.
However one this is correct then we have to confirm to Royal Mail the numbers we are balloting in each workplace so it is important the details are accurate.
In terms or some kind of game , i don’t agree to that Royal Mail have proposed a lot of what they put in the mediation report in 2018 and some new attacks on terms and conditions.
This is why we are now considering a second ballot as Royal Mail could decide at some stage to introduce some of these changes without agreement. The Pay ballot cannot be used to oppose the conditions Royal Mail want.

If the proposals are ones that they know would never be agreed then its a game and you are playing into their handsMartin Walsh wrote: ↑02 Jun 2022, 13:49

They could propose that we all take the bins out while we are delivering the mail for all it matters if it is a proposal they know wouldnt be agreed
Its the stuff that is more palatable for want of a better word that is the real worry - the stuff that the union will agree and pass off as 'not as bad as they wanted'
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Maybe tpm is one of the supplements that posties get paid that rm want to do away with. all work then left to engineers just a guess.charlatans wrote: ↑02 Jun 2022, 14:14Hi martin. That might be part of it. Im not sure how many still get tpm. Bit of a stretch to get a van to go to the mpus each day to tpm them though. I cant get a van once a week to go and do the engineering routines on early shift.
