Re: Letters on a Sunday - get ready
People don't want letters on a Sunday. They don't even expect their parcels! Delivering pks on a Sunday most people say, didn't know you worked on Sunday!! They don't even request their pkts to be delivered Sunday.

Re: Letters on a Sunday - get ready
People don’t even want their mail on a Saturday either
Saturdays are bad enough trying to deliver parcels people having a lie in
imagine what a Sunday will be like

Re: Letters on a Sunday - get ready
and we keep being told 'letters are down', 'letters are dropping', 'we are a parcel business'.....
Seems we actually have tonnes of letters to deliver if they feel we need to run a Sunday letter service.

I genuinely don't think this has any legs at all.
I think it's just someone who doesn't know what they're talking about having a brain fart.

Sunday mail wont happen. "Never say never on anything".twoloops wrote: ↑04 Jun 2022, 15:33Get ready https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/ ... t-changes/
Parcels yes. Currently Tracked 24 only.
Likely to eventually include other types ie Track 48, normal parcels, maybe specials.
My perception is they want to cut the days they deliver mail. Not increase it.

Don't think it'll be very long until it's Tracked 48 as wellRoute1 wrote: ↑04 Jun 2022, 20:30Sunday mail wont happen. "Never say never on anything".twoloops wrote: ↑04 Jun 2022, 15:33Get ready https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/ ... t-changes/

I'd give it 6 months, a year tops before it also includes at least Tracked 48yellowbelly wrote: ↑05 Jun 2022, 11:02My sentiments too, but could be a Premium Sunday SD for letters at an eye watering premiumRoute1 wrote: ↑04 Jun 2022, 20:30Sunday mail wont happen. SP
Would it mean extra shifts at the mail centre to process tracked to delivery offices? Wonder how distribution would work (no offices arent sending vans to collect its not enviromently sound)

Re: Letters on a Sunday - get ready
It won't be our distribution staff taking it to the DOs, distribution only just have enough staff as it is. The DOs will have to provide the vans and drivers, don't know if our drivers would have the spare driving hours anyway.2yearpostie wrote: ↑05 Jun 2022, 12:22SP

We don't have a Saturday night shift, and we don't have the staff for one, we're very short on staff as it is. It's not unusual to have at least a dozen casuals every shift. If it doesn't arrive in time to get processed and go out on time on Saturday morning for the Saturday morning final dispatch, it won't get processed or sent out until Sunday daytime/night.
If it did include letters, it'd all go as manual as we barely have enough mech trained staff now, even it it was 200k+ of mechable letters

Re: Letters on a Sunday - get ready
The problem being sp that the delivery offices wouldnt have the time to collect either, if it dont get to the delivery office it aint our problem! If they want sunday deliveries of tracked then i imagine they are going to have to start and rota in mc staff to do process it somehow, maybe they will give them a day off in the week instead and increase the casuals.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑05 Jun 2022, 12:35It won't be our distribution staff taking it to the DOs, distribution only just have enough staff as it is. Re: Letters on a Sunday - get ready
Nobody knows how the future will be resourced but I doubt very much Royal Mail is going to pay half a dozen posties in small vans to shlep all these tracked parcels from the mailcentre on a Sunday.
Apart from the expense it's not very eco-friendly is it?

Re: Letters on a Sunday - get ready
They dont seem to care about that in my office, sending vans who get back early out again with 2 or 3 parcels each for the same area. Often on a Monday, Tuesday or Saturday you’ll see 4,5,6+ Royal Mail vans delivering packets to the same road!! Madness!!!Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑05 Jun 2022, 13:43Nobody knows how the future will be resourced but I doubt very much Royal Mail is going to pay half a dozen posties in small vans to shlep all these tracked parcels from the mailcentre on a Sunday.
