Securing a pay deal for the future
I can see that there have been a few posts in this group where people are concerned about what a pay deal may mean to them.
I wanted to reassure people that we are looking for a pay deal that will allow us to grow Parcelforce for the future, for our customers and for our people. As I’ve said before, we want to give you a pay rise, we are not looking for people to have a reduction in their wages. We are however seeking changes that will change the way we work and allow us to remain competitive.
Unfortunately including Parcelforce in any Royal Mail Group wide ballot for industrial action would have an immediate impact of customer losses and a very real risk to the future viability of our Parcelforce business.
You will also no doubt have seen today’s full year results announcement. The last two years has shown us all how quickly customer needs can change. Our focus now is to work at pace with our people and our trade unions so that we can give our customers what they want, grow our business sustainably and deliver long-term job security for our great team. And as CEO, Simon Thompson said, “we have no time to waste.”
Securing the changes necessary for the future of our business will be an important part of any deal.
We’ve made progress working jointly with CWU over many years and we want to continue this collaborative approach. The best way to transform Parcelforce is to do it together, with our unions.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Simon Says
you know we've made quite a few changes of parcel force over the last period of time and. you know we appointed a new managing director there with aaron. i think aaron's been making some super progress and i remember just before christmas time looking at the quality of parcel force and actually was the best across the group and i thought that was absolutely amazing to see and and party.
i don't know whether you're aware of it. i don't know how long you've you've been with parcel force. i'm sure the parcel force team will know know this well. you see we did an awful lot of time. our aaron did spend an awful lot of time listening to the team at parcel force.
we made lots of really great changes around you know there was a system called rex that people weren't terribly happy with and we allowed people to make their own decision and i think where we've got to with parcel force now is without starting to invest to make sure that the products that parcel for sale are actually market competitive and we've made that commitment.
we've got the new managing director with our and with a great vision for the business in place as well, which is really tremendous. i think the qualities really, really come on as well, but the problem that's left to solve with parcel force is the productivity. and what we need to be able to show is that having got aaron in place got the quality where it needs to be.
we're now invested in the price so that parcel force can really compete in that larger parcel market. the piece that we now need to really unlock the potential of parcel force is an improvement in productivity.
actually, i remember a note the other day, jenny, and he was saying he was showing me the productivity improvements over the last week or so and actually i thought it was a little bit there's more to be done.
by the way, jenny, but i have to say, i think there was some green shoots there. so so team, if you're out there is parcel force based on what i'm seeing. please keep going and we absolutely need you as part of our story and please support aaron because i think the vision he has is a super vision and he definitely definitely needs a bit more support around the productivity piece so that we can turn the investment we've made into profit so that we can really invest in the business.
