I think the fact that since I've been involved in the company (since 97) that every pay deal there needs to be 'change', shows me that the w*****s who want it and implement it are f***ing useless!
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The fact posties have to change AND pay for pay reward is so unfair when at same time shareholders pocket 100s of Millions of pounds of companies profits.

The Pay deal offered will ensure the changes we make actually pay for the measly 2%-3.5% offered

Annualised hours will effectively reduce the overtime bill in their planning and estimates
Switching off plane transportation will reduce logistic costs
Changes to sick pay policy will be beneficial to RM bank balance
Reducing / scrapping allowances will save millions over many years
Introducing two tier workforce will cut new starters pay / conditions and also save millions.
Sunday working normalised and contracted to minimise use of agency - again massive savings for RM

So.. we must sacrifice, constantly change, decrease our conditions of employment and hail Simon as our saviour who wants to protect future of my employment.
So… which way is the picket line

This chap isn’t intelligent enough to write a blurb even remotely convincing.
Mate, we’re still writing overtime down on paper and you gave nearly half a billion to shareholders.
There’s plenty of change you could have implemented but you choose not to, so just stop with the bullshit.

Also,, and I quote,,

‘We have a plan of change that we started discussing with CWU last year, as part of the Pathway to Change Agreement. We now want to discuss how these principles can be put into practice. We urgently need a roadmap of implementation.’

So you say it yourself, we are working with you to implement change. So What’s been stopping you? I’m my office I haven’t seen any proposals or new initiatives that have been followed through on or implemented properly, just a slapdash shitshow mismanaged at every stage and then, eventually ended. all it seems you’ve really been working on us how to save money by stripping away all of our terms and conditions. Releasing now a long list which you’ve obviously been saving for a rainy day, maybe the start of a new financial year when something usually happens ,,; hmmmm

But, and unfortunately it’s a big but, This change is nothing to do with our payrise. The pathway agreement is completely separate. If you want to try and bribe us into deteriorating conditions later on, fire away.
However,
We want a share of the massive windfall that we worked ourselves to the bone through a pandemic for. You paid out to your mates now pay out to your ‘team’. You’ll likely also find a happier workforce may be more open to change. I dunno,, I’m just a dumb postie eh , Simon.

RM must be the only business in recent years to ignore the fact that by Sept 22 the expected share dividend pay out to share holders will be £1.8BN (CWU figure quoted figure) and still attempt to plead poverty. They still completely ignore the legitimate claim of a 1yr no strings pay award, and want more efficiency delivered to feed greedy fat cats. They want to invest in the future of RM and shaft those who are currently employed to do it! Nah, me thinks big kickback from CWU and membership. Cos other than new parcel hubs and a few new useless electric vehicles we all have to make do with worn out vehicles and equipment! No investment here super Si!!!!

You would think we could have a year off from "change" no?
Maybe focus on fixing the last "change" before we move on to the next "change"?

plus ça change :cuppa

I would like to ask Simon - well any senior manager - what is happening about the computerised clocking in/out system? I have worked for RM for 8 years and when I started I asked how we signed in and out for duty and lunch breaks. My manager just laughed and pointed to a pile of paper. I cannot believe that RM haven't introduced this as a priority. I don't know how they know what hours they're paying for and what people are doing. The system is prehistoric and would really help in revisions, overtime recording, staff coming in too early or trying to leave early. It would be easy to see where resources needed to be focused and where spare capacity might exist.

Those test kits were such a pain when they were coming in in huge numbers. Must have been paid a pretty packet.

Blah blah Team Blah Blah Change Blah Blah No Money Blah Blah Investment
Same old same old excuses excuses excuses lies lies and more lies
Simple fact is RM have made lots of money
We made that profit
Pay up simple as that
Then p*ss off somewhere else and take your fellow vastly overpaid money grabbing cronies with you

From corporate point of view I can see where he is coming from. He wants to make as much as possible in order to please the investors and earn a massive bonus for himself and when he is ready to move on, financial results delivered by RM under his watch can be beneficial to negotiate better pay package somewhere else.

He clearly treats us all like we were born yesterday. He cares about nobody but his failed attempts to keep us sweet and feeding us bullshit probably made him the most hated CEO of royal mail history.

He was extremely fortunate in my opinion that his tenure happened during pandemic and despite being horribly run we recorded very healthy profits. He has no idea how much this company benefit from our good will, without it there is no royal mail. He doesn't even try to acknowledge that, he is instead insulting us with every new update. Hopefully once the good will is gone and the strike is imminent something will happen. To make it happen we need to unite like never before, we need to get everyone on board and CWU needs to be sharper than ever. I personally can't see any progress while he is in the job. Hopefully once investors remove pink glasses and realise that simon is the problem they will get rid of him.

By the way I couldn't finish his video as I felt sick listening to this man.

Absolute total and utter failure on revisions. So bad that whoever was in charge of the revisions needs to question if they are up for the job.

New Uniform is only going to be worth it if the clothing is more durable and cheaper. Is it?

I have not noticed any drop in mail. If anything it's got worse and there are good reasons as to why it would have got worse as people are working from home - documents coming to their home addresses instead of the office?.... and also online orders are going up therefore more people sign up to receive junk mail.

When they say letters are down, what does this actually mean? Are they just including 1 or 2 types of letter and not everything such as junk mail? Is this just the mech they refer to?

It’s probably time for Simon to make the decision to scrap this workplace thing. As has been pointed out it’s the gift that keeps on giving. Proper hole digging going on.
