Comrades,
On Friday 18th January, management in Huddersfield signed up to the agreement below.
Area and division being cautious, there has been area-wide move to 0530, but we are determined to follow on from 0530 back to 0500. That was the policy set by our AGM today (20th) as well.
Local Agreement on Saturday Attendances: Huddersfield D.O.
The National Agreement on Pay & Modernisation states that:
“Saturday start times and the overall length of attendance on a Saturday will remain as before unless agreed otherwise locally.â€

When it comes down to it, full-time release reps like me don't have to do the job, the ordinary rank and file do.
Full-time reps sometimes need reminding who they represent. There's no time like the present...

Re: Saturday start times
Reason being if they can get the mail through early on a Saturday why can't they the rest of the week.hawkins388 wrote:In our office in Kent the majority voted to start the same time as weekdays 6.15 GITS! weekend is now completely ruined!
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

our first van has been moved to 5.30 but the 2nd van still coming in at the same time as monday to friday
have been told we can have the 1st van at 5 if we want but no way will they change the time of the 2nd van, so 1st van would be light and the 2nd have all mail that failed 1st van
told union rep and DOM at team talk that they should stick to the national agreement for early finishes but they say out of there hand and up to transport manager who WONT change the time
seems they want to force us small offices to do what they want
already fed up last saturday sat around for 45 mins waiting for van.
finished the same time as a normal sat but started earlier

This makes me so cross we are having the same problems but are fighting it all the way! The MC should be getting the mail to us THAT WAS the agreement so THAT IS what we want. Keep being told how we should be flexible about it WELL THIS time it is THEM that will have to be flexible. ALL OF US (that want to revert) SHOULD STICK TO OUR GUNS! I keep being told what is the use of coming in and twiddling our thumbs till the mail comes in may as well have a lie in!!
make a stand and they will soon crumble especially when the mail comes back, don't let them tell you you can't cut off on Saturday.......why not what is the difference!

Sat times
Our office town dutiesstart at 0630 Mon-Fri and 0545 on Sat.Rurals are 0715 Mon -Fri AND 0630 sAT.
RN said we could revert to earlier times but 2nd van would still arrive at 8 AM.
We still have to hang around for 30 mins on 2nd van then get absolutely hammered with mail What a joke.
How can RM justifying 9AM and SD services when we dont get out till after 9 and dont finish till after 3.
