Woody if telling the actual proposal from Royal Mail is scaring some members then it is Royal Mail’s fault not mine. I have been consistent we are not going to accept Royal Mail hiding behind a green agenda to move start times.

There has also been a recent development which will come out shortly which further exposes Royal Mail’s desire to move some deliveries much later.

You ask me what I am willing to accept ? The members reps meetings i have attended I have stated that our members deserve a inflation based pay rise not linked to strings and conditions and I am willing to fight for it.

Schiff yes the union has stated that we want a no strings pay deal but only a fool claims we are going on an all out strike. I have been one those before and you don’t carry all the members with you. Instead we will look at the biggest impact on the employer with the least impact on our members.
I'll ask again. You were quite happy to tell members exactly what Royal Mail were wanting, as you consider that the membership should be kept fully informed. Please could you inform members exactly what percentage no strings pay increase that the CWU have demanded from Royal Mail (in the interests of keeping members fully informed and so that they know exactly how successful our negotiaors have been).

I'll also reiterate that we don't want any kind of a pay deal. We simply want an inflation matching pay increase without a single string attached. Nothing less is acceptable. I will be happy to take part in lengthy strike action if RM won't meet union demands, but I won't take part in ineffective one days strikes where I simply face an increased workload the following day, effectively doing the extra work unpaid.

I can't see any industrial action stopping RM from axing the mainland flights, all they'd need to do is hand in the notice to quit the contracts with the companies that they rent the plane space from

As someone already said, if it was that easy why haven't they done it??

Obviously, its not a popular decision. There are still posties coming in early just so they can finish earlier, there are posties with genuine childcare needs and some posties simply won't do any overtime if it means working past 4pm. During the pandemic, managers asked staff if anyone could start work later at 11am and just deliver loops so that there wasn't many staff working in the office at once. There really weren't many volunteers up for that.

So theres a problem - with or without industrial action. Apart from that, its obviously a huge logistical operation to put in place and Royal Mail can't seem to get a few simple revisions done right. Just remind me how many offices were failing their USO a few months back? And Royal Mail suddenly want offices to start 3 or 4 hours later?

If we are going down lets just take Royal Mail with us and wipe the smirk off those senior managers faces, its gone on for far too long ,massive profits earned off the back of the workforce, its time to put a stop to these scumbags driving us all into early graves.

If we took RM with us all that would happen is that the senior managers would move on to the next cosy
number they've got lined up or we'd see them back as part of a venture capital takeover picking over
the best bits of RM.

You're thinking of work as a unit of time, it isn't.
It's a unit of energy.
If you're carrying (or pulling/pushing) two days of mail you're expending more energy even if you cut off after the same length of time.
Therefore more work same pay or extra work unpaid.

Its not that straightforward Space. RM would want to change the whole "pipeline" from deliveries to transport to processing to make it all work. And for what? Delivering a few 1st class letters?

If RM are really that concerned it would be far easier for the business to have 2nd deliveries in the evening instead. Maybe the LAT drivers could deliver them as they use our vans in the evening??

scientific point that though. you work harder Wednesdays and Thursdays, and when you have a bulk posting. just look at the days we go back after a strike day as a heavy day or a bulk posting. but the main and most important point.....cut off on your time or don't take it.

Won't happen, many DOs are short on staff as it is, without having to find extra staff for 2nd deliveries
