Look. Our Union is by no means perfect. I'm Labour to my fingertips, but don't agree with their far left Corbyny politics. They have messed up many times, not least going along with the last revison stitch-up deal. Etc.

BUT. Your job, your terms, your working conditions would be a lot worse without our union, believe me. Royal Mail are a huge, ruthless company, and we are just nameless cannon fodder to them. Without the collective strength of the Union we would be little more than modern day slave labour.

If you're on a temporary contract, you only have the chance of becoming permanent thanks to our Union.

And one day, you might even need the Union's help to save your job.

It's a few quid a week.

Don't get me wrong, people should join and this job is far better for the union being there but slave labour? That's nothing more than hyperbole.

Yeah "slave labour" was daft with hinsight, sorry.

The gist of it still stands though. I believe RM's dream would be for most of us to be gig economy workers, like Amazon or Deliveroo, which to my mind is a disgusting employment practice.
