They can lie all they want, it's not going to play well with the staff.

We just want a pay rise.

As long as the union holds that line and keeps it simple the company comes across as making the unreasonable demands.

It's a bit of a PR mess for the company and I'm not sure I would pick Ricky M to front their end.

He's not exactly warm and cuddly and if the idea is to win the hearts and minds of the staff and undermine the union he's not who I would pick to do it.
aye he does look a bit of a 'villain' to say the least.

So Royal Mail have made over a billion profit in the last 18 months. They've paid £400 million dividend for shareholders in December. Stamp prices just gone up 12%. Anyone any idea how much a 7-8 % pay rise would cost them? Can they still afford it? If not why did they pay out £400 million to shareholders in December when inflation was already over 5% and predicted to rise in 2022? Just wondering. :arrrghhh

Regarding 'the strings attached' - one of the worst being annualised hours. How in the hell would that possibly be managed? Would it be whole office based or by the individual?
As an example we have staff finishing 30 minutes early (good luck to them), staff finishing roughly on time but failing part walk, staff finishing roughly on time but completing, staff going over 30-60 mins each day to complete. People walking around with digital timers on their back?
It's a total non starter.

Would just be to replace lapsing I assume ( :funneh ) - starting for example an hour later in the ''lighter'' summer periods and an hour earlier in the heavier winter period

An annualised version of longs n shorts

They'd use the PDAs. At the PDA end all the software is already there. At the other end they'd have to have new reporting templates created, they probably already get the required data from the PDAs

apparently they made 600m from the covid test kits alone. in the latest TP vid terry says 'si' mentioned every 1% rise in pay costs them 42m. so they could comfortably afford 7% at 294m.

So the national living wage went up something like 6.5%....

and RM want to offer us just a 3.5% pay rise....

So they are wishing to send us close to the living wage. Not worth it doing a back breaking job which causes my physical pain daily for such a low wage. People don't even want to do this job now, so with our pay essentially deflating staff numbers are going to go down further. Which is possibly what they want, so the rest of us take 3 days mails out 2 or 3 times a week.

If you think the grass is greener, go for it. Nobody is going to get an inflation matching pay rise this or next yr. If people think that, they're living in cloud cuckoo land. 2 days, 3 days, 4 days worth of mail makes no odds. Start on time, finish on time. If you want the overtime, do it. People say they don't want to work Sundays but in reality it's the pxss easiest way to make money at royal mail if that's what you want.
