seniority on re-picks
Does anyone know the score about re-picks. In our office we are due to have a re-pick, but over the last 6 months we have had 3 -4 quite senior men transferred into our office.Does their seniority count for this pick,or do they miss this one & pick from the bottom of the pile? It is the first re-pick since those guys have been in our office, cheers to anyone who can help

Re: seniority on re-picks
Seniority is seniority, the fact that they have worked in another office doesn't negate their seniority which goes on the date their contract started and they will pick in order of seniority - if they are senior to you they pick before you do - if the shoe was on the other foot I'm sure you would support it.torman wrote:Does anyone know the score about re-picks. This is one of the many good things that came out of the Way Forward. Pre Way Forward, if you transferred to a different office, you started at the bottom of the local seniority list.dvbuk55 wrote:Seniority is seniority, the fact that they have worked in another office doesn't negate their seniority which goes on the date their contract started and they will pick in order of seniority - if they are senior to you they pick before you do - if the shoe was on the other foot I'm sure you would support it.torman wrote:Does anyone know the score about re-picks. I have recently moved office after several years in RM and at my old office guys transferred in and picked walks based on seniority.
Why should they pick from the bottom when they have already done reserve and crap duties for several years?
Torman if you had to move area as a lot of people do would you like to start all over again at the bottom after doing possibly 10 or 20 years service?
Other companies move people on a regular basis and sometimes give relocation expenses and other perks for doing so and yet in RM there are a lot of narrow minded selfish people who think that you should only ever work at one office and that you can never ever move for life, maybe that was the case a few years ago but times have changed and moving is becoming a way of life whether we like it or not.
I think it is only fair that they do reserve until a re-pick comes up which may be a long time even years.

Quite agree, without it are you prepared to court "favour" with the Guv for a decent duty?drb wrote:Seniority is seniority. We should be doing our utmost to preserve it as well as aggregates.

Re: seniority on re-picks
This is a great point. Because if you remember, 'dvbuk55', I was worried about losing my driving duty. But we have been moved to another office all 28 of us. So I guess I can re-pick a driving duty off of all any driver below me that works in the this office (we have been told we are now 'one' office, under one branch name, no longer a small uneconomical office, that is hard to justify!!!!). s**t maybe a couple of the other drivers will lose their jobs, not me? But as you said, now they have to look on the bright side of life and its up to them to take EVR or redundancy. Rules is rules.dvbuk55 wrote:Seniority is seniority, the fact that they have worked in another office doesn't negate their seniority which goes on the date their contract started and they will pick in order of seniority - if they are senior to you they pick before you do - if the shoe was on the other foot I'm sure you would support it.torman wrote:Does anyone know the score about re-picks. Re: seniority on re-picks
Quite right, in the event of a repick - but if the duties remain the same but the start location changes then there won't be a repick, so really it's back to square one for you. It would appear though that there must be a saving in having you all under one roof - perhaps they can keep an eye on you better?greynut wrote:This is a great point. Re: seniority on re-picks
I see. Well the duties are changing, subject to agreement of course, but we shall see. Total change of duties due to pegasus, but as you say we can disagree and get CWU inc=volved and see what happens. But there are so many options now i am beginning to understand.dvbuk55 wrote:Quite right, in the event of a repick - but if the duties remain the same but the start location changes then there won't be a repick, so really it's back to square one for you.
