What’s happening with all this now, are they still in talks or have they agreed a date the changes need to be in place by?

I haven't seen any comments about this on here, but apparently some of the DOMS have been offered a '3 year pay deal' to continue receiving their DOM pay whilst accepting one of the new manager roles. I know this has upset some of the DOMS who had already accepted the VR payments without knowledge of any pay deal.
No sign of the DOM role going yet, despite the business suggesting that they had moved onto phase 2 about a month ago.

Anyone else have details on this supposed pay deal?

Officially it's hold until the result of the CMA ballot is in. Unofficially they all find out where they're going this week and the top brass are expecting the managers to tip their caps and say thanks very much governor....and then move on to the next set of postman to bully and harass.

How can this be a "pay deal" it is standard practice to pay someone their current wage/salary for 3 years if they have to take up an inferior paying role.

How can this be a "pay deal" it is standard practice to pay someone their current wage/salary for 3 years if they have to take up an inferior paying role.

'Royal Mail is set to cut 700 jobs as part of a push to reduce bureaucracy.
Making the 700 managers redundant would save around £40million every year, according to the Royal Mail - that's around £57,142 per manager.
Around £30million of that would come between April 2022 and April 2023. However, there would be a one-off cost of £70million to make all the redundancies - which Royal Mail would pay before April 2022'

I understand that. But the DOM role is disappearing, and it is their choice to accept a lesser role or accept a VR payoff, they don't have to take up that inferior paying role. I know of a local DOM who is taking the new COM role and intends to retire when his pay is finally reduced. Less responsibility, full wages while the rest of the COM's they work with are paid a lot less.

I can't work out how the business would make any savings at all for a long time.

Apparently late may is when all the changes are to be introduced. Regardless of the competence of some of the managers in this business, they are stretching them pretty thin.

I expect WPC's will have to recover some of the slack of this venture. I suppose they do very little so...

Anyways, with the structural revisions that RM want to introduce to every office, I think we are all gonna get shafted. Amazing that someone, somewhere is crunching numbers with little idea how the business works!

it's enough to site their reasons to not give us a cost of living wage rise!

It seems that in our area low service DOMs have been given VR but those with long service have not only been refused VR but have also been moved from the area they were covering, almost like a punishment for seeking to take the money and run.

Interested to hear if this is going on across all of RM
