Re: Payrise
Both the CWU and RM have only themselves at interest. We the worker can't win either way.

Re: Payrise
Too true
Terry stitched himself up with help from Super Si. When Rico left Terry was too busy hailing it as a great victory that he fell for everything the new CEO came in with. Hundreds of disagreements were swept aside so this great new partnership could press on. Covid came along and Terry went overboard with his praise for posties, some of what he said is pretty embarrassing to be honest (fourth emergency service, popping in to check people were ok).
The CEO announced a ridiculous number of revisions would take place within a few months and Terry was almost excited about becoming some sort of record breaker, he never thought for one second that there could be massive failures as a result of bad revisions and he almost blamed the posties at times.
The CWU should have been on top of the real reasons for delays in deliveries but Terry was almost reading from the same script as the CEO. The CWU sang the praises of the holiday pay agreement and when posties complained they had missed out, Terry made comments that proved that he didn't even understand how the agreement worked! The company/CEO have come out with loads of statements knocking and insulting an exhausted workforce and Terry and the CWU have largely remained silent. The most recent LTBs have read more like company press releases.
When he wrote to the company in February about the pay rise and was pretty much told to go away until the end of March, the penny started to drop for him. Now we are in mid-April and still nothing has happened, so he spends 18 minutes on a video waffling away when a short and sharp statement would have said so much more.

This is seriously worrying as everything you have mentioned is true. CWU have a massive opportunity to prove their worth getting us the pay rise we all deserve for working throughout the pandemic, battling with hellish workloads and recently trying to cope with failed revisions, failed deliveries forcing many of us to work double mail day every week.

Re: Payrise
Cwu have to have our interests in hand to a certain degree or they wouldn't be still there your basically saying everyone who pays in doesn't know why they pay in,fact is were still better off with a union than not even if we get 2% rise instead of 1%.

Re: Payrise
Well it is a sad indictment of the CWU if the main reason for having them is "well you know better the devil you know;we would be worse off if without them ...etc etc"
That is not anywhere near good enough - they are paid to look after OUR interests and welfare - not their own !
Most members are fed up and the CWU have to step up big time now.
There are no excuses whatsoever this time.
This is a critical time for the CWU if they cannot do it now then i do not see where we go from here.

Re: Payrise
4% and an hour off the working week so in effect 2.7% on top, so 6.7% altogether close to where inflation is.
It'll be heralded as a massive win.

Re: Payrise
As much as that sounds an OK deal, I can't see how us posties will deliver the same mail as we are now if not more, going by the last revision. We, (paired duty) were lucky, as we only had about 15mins work added each, some in our office had over an hr+ added. Most days there are cut offs / 'uso' failures due to duties being unmanageable. RM don't seem to care about the sh!t service we are givingas long as the shareholders get the £££

Re: Payrise
We do deserve a decent pay rise this time though we should try saying no instead of yes if its crap.

Re: Payrise
That's only a 6.7% rise if you're part-time.
If you're full-time it's still "in effect" 4%.
I can't pay my bills with an hour off the working week.
I've had enough pretend pay rises that don't change my take home pay.

Yes i think the era of shorter working week=pay rise should come to an end ASAP. More money into my account please.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑18 Apr 2022, 09:32That's only a 6.7% rise if you're part-time.

You're still getting 6.7% though as the hourly rate goes up that amount.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑18 Apr 2022, 09:32That's only a 6.7% rise if you're part-time.

I know what you mean about total pay, but then that's what was agreed in the four pillars agreement back in 2018, so 35 will be the reality soon enough.

No I'm not. You're still getting 6.7% though as the hourly rate goes up that amount.
I'd be getting 4%.
Take home pay is how a pay rise is measured, not hourly rate.
What was agreed in 2018 should have nothing to do with this year's pay rise.
The SWW was not designed to uplift pay or as an alternative to a pay rise because it doesn't and isn't, it was designed to protect jobs and increase efficiency.

Re: Payrise
We all know how it goes, we get offered something rubbish like a £100 carrot to take a rubbish pay offer with strings . The saddos all get excited and dont think of the bigger picture , its pathetic . Stay strong for a change .
