Last time I did the survey I just ticked all the boxes that told me to strongly agree. My input to the business is the same as always.

Why bother doing it in the first place?

The results from this survey will be manipulated to show RM in a good light much like the YouGov surveys are used by the government. If everyone refused to fill them in we would hear less of drivel from the top which nobody actually doing the job can relate to.

Because I know we will never get less drivel although they have scaled back on the noticeboards displayed.

However, RM will still be insisting on giving us Tuesday lectures and daily huddles regardless. Its just the way the business is.

You've got nothing to lose by not filling it in if you aren't going to give honest answers in the first place

Completing this survey. Is it voluntary or compulsory? Because every year the DOM at our office spends the month threatening and bullying posties to fill it in.

There is nowhere where I have read that its compulsory, and no one has told me verbally that it is compulsory ( neither management or union officials ) So therefore the conclusive answer is it must be voluntary ! And how it can be anonymous to do it on your PDA if you have to log in with your name and number beats the hell out of me..( And also if you have to log in on your PDA to do it and you don't do it will they have the data to see that you ain't done it ? )

It is NOT COMPULSORY. RM use it for feedback on particular Delivery Offices/Mail Centres and I do believe the results affect a Managers Bonus system (another box that needs ticking).

That's why Managers are so keen to bully (and there's no other word for it) staff into completing it. Try telling him, "IF you continue to keep hassling me over completing it I'll be contacting the Harressment & Bullying Helpline" and see if he goes away. :thumbup

IMO the survey is pointless. I don't believe the argument that if you don't say anything nothing's going to change. :speak to the hand They use this argument every year and still nothing changes. :arrrghhh I consider it just a trick to increase the % of replies which RM can then spin as a success and simply cherry pick the bits they want to trumpet. By not bothering with it it's just a little bit of RM BS Stress I don't have to worry about.:cuppa

If you made it compulsory those that really didn't want to do it would more than likely give negative answers.

Leaving it voluntary skews the results in their favour but they need enough participants to give the whole thing some kind of legitimacy.

I think this time they will really struggle.

Participation rate on our shift in last years Big Trust Survey was bolstered by Agency Workers filling it in. It will be interesting to see the percentage difference this year, given only RM employees are participating.

If my answers were not honest, my intent certainly was.

In the past I found it quicker to tick one side of the questionnaire and left the room as quickly as I was "forced" to enter it. This survey might obviously be different this year as its now on the PDA.

They have made it optional whereas before we were coerced into it. A bit like lapsing no?
