Revision. How has this happened?

Post by Paulo1963 »

Our office has just started its new duties after a revision where deliveries are simp!y too big, the way walks have been laid out is absurd, mail not being delivered for days and overall morale varying from discontent to hilarity at the fiasco developing. Customer service is non existent and turning this around seems imossible. Posties are so fed up, mail is taken for a ride then brought back to be rethrown off for the next day when the pantomime is repeated. Bigger walks, less time to do them, photographing packets daily van checks before you go out, HCT's that aren't fit for purpose and a union that seem oblivious.
How the heck did we get here? A Company I was once proud to work for has now become an embarrassment.

Happens over and over and over and over... again. Do they say they will learn from previous mistakes? Yes. Do they? No. The people responsible for the whole revision process should be sacked.

EXACTLY, that's when a service transferred to being a business and it all became about money and shareholders, and the downward spiral started - and will not stop sadly.

As the daily posts on here show, nothing is getting any better, nor will do. Simon only plays earshot to the staff - he is accountable to the board and if he doesn't deliver on their instructions he will be out - simple as.

I don't think failed revisions are anything to do with privatisation.
We had enough of them in 2010 to know that.

Some of the real reasons..

1.Senior management ignorance of the practicalities on the ground.

2. Local management incompetence in the application of the process.

3.Poor oversight from both the business and a mostly out of touch union at branch, divisional and national level.

4.Failure to understand how planning works and the limitations of the planning tools.

5.In most cases completely the wrong people involved in the planning process.

And the CWU (or Terry's statements) being impressed with having to do a record breaking number of revisions in a few months, but not actually being bothered whether anything actually worked afterwards.

failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

Absolute nail on the head…again. Especially point 5,but I won’t go into that too much on here!

We only had a table top revision last September, does that mean we are lined up for a full structural revision & re-pick this time around?

Just get your guys to use the LWT trolleys when they can, it's such fun!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

That's always been the case, remember Leighton and Crozier?
In those days it was in order to polish their own CVs and make friends in government , privatisation may have changed the motivation but the end result is the same.
i dont believe they actually dont know whats going on at floor level.
I don't believe they have the slightest idea, these revisions are not only failing on a QofS level and causing difficulties for staff, they are failing to provide any meaningful savings or uplift in productivity.

You could argue that senior management don't give a rat's ass about the staff or QofS but the fact that the revisions are not moving the company forward proves that senior management do not understand the battlefield or deficiencies of the command structure they have controlling it.

Think they couldnt give a rats ass,The revisions are purposely big even back in 2010 its designed that way so to utilise overtime hence people on 20 hour contracts then you acctually do get paid for what you work.

Royal Mail will keep pushing and pushing, taking and taking because the staff take it personally when they can't complete.
Too many staff take too much personal responsibility with the mail.

If you've got time to deliver it then do so. If not then cut off and return it to the DO.

We have two walks in our office that take out a part timer with them everyday, they have the oversized taken for them & they still do not complete on time even with 3 posties on it :chuckle
