How much has Royal Mail invested in this project?? Many of the people who send letters/cards are the older generation, a numer of whom don't have the knowledge/access to this technology. I feel this project is money wasted, we can't get replacement vans when our's go to the workshop, sometimes they are off the road for weeks because of the delay getting them repaired, so impacting on deliveries. I am sure what the customer wants is their letters and packets delivered on time not these frivolous extras

So people will be sending unused stamps to an identifiable freepost address - not a good idea surely?
What do you think the insurance position will be ? Will customers be able to claim for non-arrival of money/stamps in return for their stamps ? Will there be any cases of fraud ??

From letters in Computer Active Magazine dated 16 Mar 22, with my highlighting - which is what our customers/recipients
want, not pointless, money wasting exercises dreamt up in an office focus group.
Video stamps are madness

Computer Active (UK)16 Mar 2022E Nottman

Who on earth at Royal Mail would dream up the idea that we wanted stamps to play a video (Issue 625, page 7)? If we wanted to listen to music or play a video, we’d use the proper equipment. A stamp should be just for postage. It’s madness – just creating needless waste, and effectively producing more junk mail that has to be recycled.

There’s also the additional paper, ink and costs, not to mention the environmental impact of making it, and disposing of the materials. Add to this the manpower required for the design and implementation and a lot of money is being wasted. The postman’s bag will also be heavier.

This money would be better spent by providing an improved delivery service and reducing Royal Mail’s exorbitant postage charges. I’ve seen instances in recent months of no letter deliveries for three consecutive days because they were too busy delivering parcels, or no letter deliveries on a Saturday (and this was before recent staff shortages caused by Covid). People were waiting for bills, prescriptions and other important mail. We don’t need video stamps, just a better and cheaper service.

I think the idea was to offer end to end tracking for letters. They went to ofcom and got told they couldn't so just ended up with this bs gimmick.
