Upon reflection I'd like to ask how much in the way of bonus payments the senior tiers of management raked in whilst deliberately neglecting the provision of a service that customers had paid for; i.e using the pandemic as a smokescreen to restrain the necessary manpower required to facilitate the flow of mail. It was only a matter of months ago that our DO regularly had walks failing, sometimes for days, due to budgetary restraints and NOT the 'staff isolating' bunk that was peddled to the media and any members of Parliament that could be bothered to ask questions on behalf of their constituents.
You do the work, they get the loot. The men with the smiles and the 3 piece suits.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

"People have had to adapt to living in a very different world, but Royal Mail has........

carried on regardless as if f**k all has changed.
:Applause Amen to that FB.
I take it RMTV are trying to get lots of "Feel Good" stories to produce yet more Corporate BS videos telling us all how wonderful we are? :arrrghhh

2 years on and we're actually having more Covid staff abscences than during the Crisis  I presume because everyone's started going out socialising more, and there's less restrictions & precautions in place? :cuppa

My reflections as over a year as agency and 8 months working for RM part - time, are how RM management undervalue its front line workforce, and have a corporate speak culture, usually to cover inadequacies in the system they implemented. Plus how raking in profits was good publicity for its share holders and the subtle hints at the lack any significant pay rise and the drastic need to cut costs.

But then it is probably just my cynical covid view
Everything will be OK in the end, If it's not OK, then its not the end.

I was wondering when that cheese d*ck would show up again…

I first met Dr Shaun or plain old Sean back as he was known then, in a queue at the canteen early one morning. He tried to push in front of me explaining hurriedly how he needed his brain food…eggs and beans, how he would one day have 6 masters, a doctorate, and be a published author, he’d show everyone they were wrong…

Bleary eyed I clipped him around the back of the head so that some of his whispy hair transplant fell out. I told him straight “Your a mug Sean, you’ll always be a mug no matter how many shiney trinkets you collect, nothing will fill that black hole of hate for yourself…now f**k off to the back of the queue.”

Little did I realise that ignorant, perma-tanned scroate would go on to become Global Director of Compliance & Sustainability (Safety, Health, Wellbeing, Corporate Security and Regulatory Compliance) at Royal Mail

The company would be wise to refrain from reminding us. The words 'key worker' committed to paper were about as concrete as a Domino's D2D printed on tissue paper shoved through the most draft-excluding of letterboxes on a rainy day.
The machine stops.

My reflections.... It was horrific... management carried on as if nothing happened.... I suffered mentally and physically... then I left. It's now just a bad dream 😁

And pretty much sums up my experiences as well :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle

Two years on, in a far better place, life and health wise, and working for a company that actually does care about its workforce, not just the paper exercise that royal fail generally follow. Oh and no longer working with a load of "colleagues" who'd stab you in the back or undermine you for a pat on the head from the DIM and a potential 20 minute earlier finish.

Just keep telling myself it was a necessary evil to get where I am today.

And breath!!!!!

And a similar experience for myself , joined Royal Mail a few months before Covid , then continued to work for them for 2 years during Covid until i just had enough of the ridiculous workloads , lack of staff - all the time , and crap management etc , , now in a better job.

What everyone else said i agree with.

My personal reflection and lessons learned is that i must continue to remind myself to make extra effort to not a give a crap. This company and neither do the CWU give a flying fack about me, so i must take it upon myself to do want best suits me. If that means not delivering something or not bothering to do D2Ds etc, that is not an issue. If i am called into the office, *shrugs*, i don't care. Thank you RM for your outstanding commitment to not giving a crap.

2 YEARS ON ??
All of you have a look at latest jobs list !!!!
Over 50 cleaning jobs ?????????????
STAGGERING
We never took it seriously, and look at the results of that re customer service last 2 years
EVERY DEPOT WITH OVER 35 PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE A FULL TIME CLEANER
we dont need 10 regional operations directors re £100,000 plus
We dont need 4/5 new senior personnel/directors salaries of those in excess of 1.5 million
Depots dirty places in non covid times let alone last 2 years
When a depot got it hard we all know the propeganda ? full sanitise ??
or one man and his mop-we knew the truth !!
Countless Covid cases could have been prevented
Can I ask where you have got this info from as our Union rep doesn't know anything about that.
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.
