Sorry Royal Mail slang for getting trained properly. That is someone helping you throw off the walk and actually taking you round it for a few days. Once thing to watch out for is Saturday retentions as not all business will be open - you should find a list in the Walk Log for each walk (old-timers call them 318s)

thanks for all your replys, im not 100% sure what i'll be doing yet, my first day is on friday which is when i supposed i will be trained etc. My job title is OPG (Depot) PDO, if anyone could explain this it would really help. Also who should i ask for on the 1st day, i havent been given any contact names or anything, should i just ask for the line manager? or duty manager? the office wont be open at this time in the morning so should i just walk through into the courtyard area?

OPG is Operational Postal Grade - ie a manual postal worker - usually in uniform.
That could be either a Delivery Postman, or an Indoor Sorter, though if the contract is
for six hours on a Saturday morning, it will probably be to deliver mail.
If you have to go in on Friday for training they will tell you then presumably.
Either way it seems you will be getting some training then.
Just turn up at the time you have been given, go in through the staff entrance and show your letter to whoever is there, and you will be pointed in the right direction - probably to the nearest line manager.
Good luck!

And take something waterproof to wear, because it's likely to rain and if you're out on delivery
you'll get soaked.

I don't work in Deliveries, I'm in Processing. So maybe a Delivery Postie will come on and tell you what to expect.
But as far as I know, you will be shown how to throw up (sort and organise) your walk, and should be taken out
by an experienced postie (puppywalker) to show you the route. Also remember to wear some comfortable walking shoes (also waterproof) as you will probably be walking around 4.5 miles on your delivery.

Welcome mate and moved this to Blue Shirts.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Are you sure you are only part-time? OPG's are full time and AG's are part time. There is a guy in my office that only works saturday mornings, mon-fri he works for TNT
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I don't think part time staff are called AGs anymore, but OPG PT.
And I thought RM employees aren't allowed to work for competitors.
