We have taken on approx. 10 new starters in the past 6 months so while jobs may be going in some places it would appear that they are not just making wild cuts but putting the hours where they are needed (as far as they know)
If you start at 7am and finsih at 1pm, then if you are not on a part time contract you might suffer the same as we have. They will cut duties and add to yours. Putting the hours where they are needed to quote yourself.
We shall see!

my point was that if used correctly geo route is an effective tool in timing walks
the only time a problem happens usually it is when royal mail changes the % rates of deliveries and or walk speed
as lovejoy states all cwu reps should have been all trained on using geo (here in wales they were all trained months ago ) so if they have any problems they can go to disagreement over it
just for the record i voted no
If you read my first post, I have said that the walks have been absorbed. So a few posties will have maybe an extra 15-20 minutes added to thier walk. Does geo route help get back the 3 driving duties ?? Help me understand your lethargic and matter of fact approach to duties being cut and 6 years of doing my job driving counting for nothing.
Question to greynut do you believe 3 drivers could do all the work because i do not cutting the driveing duties in half is a joke!.

No chance. As I have said in previous posts, we have been moved out of our local office into another some 8 miles away. It takes about 15-30 minutes now to get to 1st point of delivery. Am I missing something here. It seems that most think I am wrong to complain about duties being cut??
All I can say is ROYALMAILCHAT CAMPAIGN: GET ON THE VANS! START AT YOUR OFFICIAL TIME! WEIGH YOUR BAGS! TAKE YOUR BREAK! SAVE YOUR JOBS!!! and let everything fall apart because of RM inconpetence.

You are not wrong but what has your rep done about it and what are all your workmate's going to do about it has this been agreed or not and what is the area reps doing about it royalfail will bring in all the heavyweights from top office and so should our union.

Its a good point, as I said, the posties will have maybe 20 minutes extra on their duties. While we lose 3 driving duties. At last someone who is objective. Thank you.
It may well impact on them just as much in that they will be waiting for bags because we all know you cannot be in two place's at the same time and the packets may well be a lot bigger that they will take. It is in everyone's interests to save job's no matter in which function driver/postie/ex phg/doorkeeper/ect.

Are you seriously suggesting that the EVR or redundancy is looking on the bright side of life.
Amazing quote.
Not as amazing as you keep bleating about cuts and you losing your driving duty and still not answering the question as to who has agreed the changes? They must be agreed to be put in place, so someone who is negotiating on your behalf can obviously NOT put the case for retaining the duties. If the changes aren't going to work that will be seen to be the case - and if they do the duties weren't necessary. I'm surprised that offices so small survive in this economically driven climate - 20 minutes to the first drop isn't that far and the delivery is calculated on 1st letter to last letter not how long it takes to get there - that should be built into the work plan - which spans 8 hours however you divide it up.

Listen pal, we have no Union rep. The rep. took redundancy. We were moved offices, against our will, but again agreed by the CWU WITHOUT us even discussing it, and promised that the rep there would lok after us. So dont tell me about agreements etc we don t get them in our office. We are told, straightt and simple and the CWU rep hasn t got the time of day for us.We have received no help. We lost nights this last year even though we asked for a disagreement to be put in place. The union rep said that his heart bled for us but there was nothing that could be done. We have seen the rep twice in the last year. Once to take away nights and once to ask us back up a postie in another office who had been discriminated against.
Your attitude towards me and my office is amazing. You dont know how much our office has been s**t on over the last 7 years because we are small. And the size of the office has nothing to do with economics! The budget is worked out, whether we are in a small office or not? Same amount of people, same houses to deliver to. It was a short term fix to get an area manager a bonus.FACT. It has been said since that we should never have been moved.
So what if I am bleating (A favourite word of yours I see) about jobs cuts. Isn t that what we went on strike about ???
But as you say mate look on the bright side take EVR or redundancy. But, I didn t go on strike to do that.

Why hasn't the CWU Rep got time for you? If his complacency isn't justified then go to the Area Rep and complain and put the case to him, and if he hasn't got time for you then e-mail or ring Headquarters. Your office is either economically viable or it isn't - contrary to popular female parlance size does matter. Whatever the reasons for going on strike have long gone, the vote has been cast and we have to live with the consequences of the yes vote, some more than others. You're right I don't know how much cack your office has gone through in the last 7 years - but you seem to be literate so list all the grievances you feel your office has suffered and submit a copy to the Manager, Area Rep and Unit Rep and ask them to go into disagreement over the latest round of changes. If the Unit Rep isn't very good then put yourself up next time the election is due.

I can't believe what I have just been reading! Here is someone who is loosing his Duty, due to changes agreed by a Rep who he believes to have no concern for his Office. And what kind of replies does he get?
Take EVR, put yourself up for election, take things higher (he might already have done this for all we know), and stop bleating.
A little sympathy wouldn't go amiss you know! True, there is little anyone can do except take things higher, and put a suitable candidate forward for the Election. But what about some suggestions about what (if anything) can be done in the meantime.
Lovejoy, you know a lot more about these things than I do. IS there any way of delaying the implementation of these changes until Greynut can get someone to take up their case?
Don't knock Insanity
it's just another outlook on Reality!
Sorry to hear about the impositions on your office and your duties. The late driving duty and the SA on the
weekend is actually on a seperate budget and is run from your mail centre.
You need to find out who is your Collections rep is. If he/she has agreed to those late collections and SA
being removed,or maybe he does not know.
If he registers a disagreement than the whole imposition will stop.
Let us know what happens. If you need help than PM me with your office name and i'll
find out exactly what is happening
