Had a similar request recently, told them we'd only got one car and my wife was using it (the depot is walking distance from my house.) They made out that the job description required me to have my own vehicle. It doesn't, as I showed them. Then they said they'd let me take a van but I had to be at the other depot at my start time. I said no, I'll start in this depot and drive from here thanks.
Anyway they gave up and got someone else to do it

This is what infuriates me LIES LIES and more LIES.... why can managers get away with this over and over again. Lets hope that these managers are included in the 700. The big “trust” survey is doomed to fail with fools like this running the show.
